Important Election Information for Primary Election, Tuesday August 18, 2020

1. Primary elections take place on August 18. Contests with only one party represented will be determined at the primary level. With respect to the Board of County Commissioners, all registered voters (not just Republicans) can vote for candidates in Districts 1 & 3. This is the final vote for these two important positions. The District 5 position will be decided at the general election

2. Voting in Walton County is county-wide and does not depend on where you live. All voters decide all positions

3. SWCC intends to publish a voter guide in early July, based on candidate responses to questions on issues important to South Walton voters

4. Register to vote. It is important. The deadline to register for an upcoming election is 29 days before that election (July 20 for the Aug 18 primary). You can also update your registration record at any time. However, since Florida is a closed primary election state, a party change for a primary election must be made by the registration deadline for that election

5. Please refer to the sample election ballot, available at https://tinyurl.com/yd98ac93. A condensed version is reproduced below. The full version contains a lot of useful information about the ways to vote

6. Consider voting by mail. Request using the Online Vote-by-Mail Ballot Request Form, or by calling (850) 892-8112. You can also complete the Printable Vote-by-Mail Ballot Request Form and return it to the Supervisor of Elections office. For complete information refer to https://www.votewalton.com/Voting/Ways-to-Vote

7. There are no provisions for an additional run-off election if no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote

8. PLEASE VOTE

Don't forget postage! Extra postage is required but not sure how much. Anyone?
I found this info on a news site, says ballot will be delivered even if incorrect postage...I didn't find any additional info on www.votewalton.com. Hope it helps...

VERIFY: Your mail-in ballot will be sent regardless if it has a stamp or not

"In an email to VERIFY, the Postal Service first warns: “Federal law requires appropriate postage to be affixed to all mail pieces entering into the U.S. Postal Service mail stream, and we expect our customers to comply with this requirement. To help voters, the Postal Service’s regulations require election officials to inform voters of the amount of first-class postage required to return their ballots.
