What is Commodore's Retreat called now???

Oh no! sorry I brought it up. I just remembered someone I knew stayed there about 6 yrs ago and loved it, so I thought we might try it this fall. Hate that so much because it was near where the lake and ocean met, so I thought it would be great for little ones. Do you guys know of another set of...

There used to be a place called Commordore's Retreat ( I think) . It was down the little road near Resort Quest and Summer's Edge area. Does anyone know what it's called now. I cannot find it listed anywhere.

Gravel Road! Would have eaten there every day!!!

We were down to Seagrove for 2 weeks 6-12 thru 26th. We stayed so close to The Gravel Road, but did not eat there until our last morning. It was so good we all said we wished we would have eaten there the first morning of our trip. My 8 yr old nephew ordered the short stack with bacon. After the...

Teen on bike hit by truck in Seagrove

Always worry about the kids on bikes!! We have been coming to 30A for 20 years. I have always worried about the small children that ride bikes on 30a. Even before I had children I thought it was dangerous the way people are pulling out of condos. It amazes me that people will let a 3 or 4 yr...

Need Vacation Home 3rd week of May or 1st week of June

That might be kind of low for a home. I have looked and looked and the cheapest I found was across 30A or to do a 3br condo at Beachwood Villas, Beachside Villas, Villages of Sugar Beach(at the beach calm) or the houses at Cassine Village. Good luck!!

WaterColor Publix and a Birthday Cake

Tennessee loves Publix too! I was in the Hermitage Publix last year right after we found out a 8 year old friend of ours was diagnosed with brain cancer. It was her bithday so we were trying to get some cupcakes to send to Vanderbilt hospital. I was talking to the manager, and before I knew it...

    Crab Island always so crowded??

We rented a pontoon in June to take our kids to Crab Island. It was a Sunday, and it was so crowded. We have been before, but that was years ago( 12). Was it crowded only because it was Sun. or is it always like that even during the week? We rarely go into Destin when we are vacationing in...

    College Football 2009

New FSU fan!! Our family friend is # 79 David Spurlock. He is an awesome kid from Murfreesboro, TN. We have only been to see him play in Atlanta. Hopefully we can get to a game at FSU this year. We have never watched that much college ball, but we love it now. I think more than the NFL!!

    counseling/therapy for elderly parent??

So hard! I just feel for those of us in this situation. I also feel for the parents. They are from the generation that does not like to ask for help. My father told the rehab/nursing home as he was released "I hope I die before I ever have to come back here". I heart just broke. I am of...

    Fruit salsa a big hit!!

I found this recipe in an appetizer book. I made it for the 4th of July, and it was a huge hit. It was so pretty. It would be a great dish for an evening by the beach and a bottle of wine. I chopped/diced 10 strawberries, 4 kiwis, 1 mango and added a can of chopped pineapple. I mixed it with...

    Comforters in rentals

Hotels do it too! GROSS I have a good friend who worked at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Oahu. She told me they wash the comforters once a month. Some of those rooms go for at least 5-700 per night. Now anywhere we stay the first thing we do is fold those and stick them in the closet. We do...

    Sugar Beacb vs Cassine Village

One Seagrove really has a heated pool! I don't know if you have children, but when we come in early March it is hard to find a truly heated pool. We were staying at Beachcrest, but we ran up to One Seagrove and stuck our feet in. It was warm. We won't stay anywhere else now if it does not...

    Seagrove on the Beach Rentals

Yes, love Seagrove on the Beach too! I think that they are one of the nicest also. We just came back last Sun. from Beachside condos, and we rented with them. Nelda was very polite every time we called.

    Hi from Mt. Juliet, TN

Hi, we're from Tennessee. We have been coming to Seagrove for 15 years. We started coming as a dating couple and now we have 3 children. Mt. Juliet is about 20 miles east of Nashville. I am from California and the beaches there cannot compare to South Walton. We can spend 6-7 hours just looking...
