Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

"spirit" of the code doesn't hold much water in the legal process. And the discretion of the county commissioners is what should worry some people. Money usually is a big influence on the discretion of politicians.

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

Aren't legal precedents established by court decisions? I thought Jay Odom had already won that battle with the Grayton Grand litigation.

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

Who owns the property and who is the developer?

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

Don't most of the users on this site post with anonymity? My real name isn't Ricky Bobby. It's a name I got in high school that followed me through college. My yankee friends from Miami and Palm Beach county seem to be amused at my southern accent.

Another Hotel Development on 30A At the Old Collaborations Site?

I'm sure if it's to be an upscale establishment catering to the top one percent it won't meet much opposition.

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

It's good to know that you are better than other people. If that's the case you and others of like mind should have no problem putting a stop to all development along 30a.

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

I did hear that one of those fancy hotels in NYC kicked Jace Robertson out.

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

This really is a confusing forum. A bunch of you are pouncing on Meggiemom because she doesn't see anything wrong with building a hotel in Seagrove. One of you has attacked her stating that she has "damaged" something and you flyingseagull imply that she is only good enough to stay at a budget...

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

As that great American Rodney King once said, "Can't we all get along?"
  10. R

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

She asked how she had damaged 30a. I don't think the question was directed to you. But as long as you answered, how has she done any damage to 30a?

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

I doubt that the proposed Hampton Inn will be built after all this uproar. I would think that the Hilton people will pull the plug.

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

I want them to build a Motel 6 instead. I want something cheap.

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

I've noticed some of the abandoned condo projects on 30a have restarted. Does that bother all you "stop all development" activists? Frankly, I think it looks a hell of a lot better than run down, bankrupt developments. I hope the Hilton Hotel people show up at the hearing to voice their side.

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

I think a lot of people are getting worked up over nothing. There's a hell of a lot of property tackier than a Hampton Inn on 30a and those who boast about being "too classy" for this and that sound elitist. Frankly, for me all those rich snobs from Atlanta that descend on the area in the Spring...

Hampton Inn Seagrove Beach on Chateau Hotel Property

If M.C. Davis has a stake in the project, I can't see it stopped. He doesn't invest money to stop development that generates profits for himself. That ought to be a no brainer even for socialist geniuses. And he does give lots of money to Walton County's elected officials.

    New signs are funny

What "qualifications" are you looking for? There are no real qualifications for any office in the state of Florida. For most voters in Walton county, if one is a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the Tea Party or other affiliation with the Walton County political machine that's...

    School Referendum August 26, 2014

I hope I'm wrong but I doubt that this effort will pass. The people in Walton County seem to love their politicians, and some of the folks on this very board who are behind this now were defending the superintendent not too long ago.

Land Purchase in South Walton for New School

It's pointless to question anything county government agencies do. The cheerleaders on this board seem satisfied with any and all decisions made by the county commission and the school district. I'm one of those who believes it's bad policy to do business with those who give thousands of dollars...

No Pay Raise in Seven Years? Support Walton County Teachers!

I seem to recall about 3 years ago someone posted some not so flattering facts about Carlene Anderson and her regime and the regulars on this board were outraged and oh so defensive. What's happened to change that point of view?

Is this really one of Walton County's Teachers?

In a business setting, a board of directors picks a CEO. The CEO is not elected by shareholders. The CEO of the company should surround himself/herself with competent people and those are expected to follow suit. There is a clear chain of command and the person at the top is ultimately...

Is this really one of Walton County's Teachers?

I didn't vote for Obama. And what does that have to do with the school district hiring a convicted felon?

Is this really one of Walton County's Teachers?

I'm a product of South Walton High. I spent four years there. I made lots of friends and had lots of fun. I had some good teachers and some not so good teachers. I saw changes and from what my friends tell me the changes weren't always good. I managed to stay out of trouble and made pretty...

Is this really one of Walton County's Teachers?

Someone mentioned that principals hire the teachers. I also understand that we have a Human Resources director. It seems to me that the HR director should review all applications and find the most qualified candidates before principals unilaterally hires a teacher. Walton county seems to hire...

Is this really one of Walton County's Teachers?

Maybe I missed something. I don't see the thread as an effort to "tar and feather" the teacher involved but as an indictment of the school district administration in recruiting and hiring personnel. Since so many people demand proof it was necessary to identify the teacher. I've seen...

Carlene Anderson filed a false complaint against someone? Seems to me that might be grounds for a lawsuit.

    WCSD Superintendent Race

A big issue for a lot of people is the concept of ethics, which in my mind is simply doing the right thing. Right and wrong seems to be lost when elected officials operate in a gray area that suggests that if it's legal in the strictest sense, it's ethical. Personally, I don't think it's...

    Walton citizens for honest government

Sounds like something that ought to interest all Walton County voters. Interesting concept: "honest government". Somehow that doesn't seem to fit Walton county.

    WCSD Superintendent Race

In the superintendents race I believe there are many issues not just the ESE offices. Questions have been raised that she and the board haven't answered. And isn't it a little bit curious that in the last election, a wealthy developer who is also tight with former Rep. Sansom contributed...

    FBI and Walton County

When benefactors give money to politicians they want something in return. I can't help but wonder what the superintendent of education promised and delivered since he gave her campaign thousands in 2008?

    FBI and Walton County

The Daily News reports that the FBI is looking into dealings between the WCC and developers Lloyd Blue and Jay Odom. I wonder if that inquiry will extend to dealings of the school district? Jay Odom and his companies, including Hammock Bay contributed thousands to superintendent Anderson's...

    "Thou Shall Not Steal"

In the 2008 elections it's interesting to note that more than one incumbent received thousands in campaign contributions from an individual who was investigated and indicted for stealing, although the charges were dropped. I just don't get a warm fuzzy feeling about people who take money from...

    Campaign Financing

John Edwards didn't have anything to worry about with the campaign financing charges. Well connnected politicians can get away with anything. In Florida if elected officials finds themselves with more than they spent on the campaign they can pocket a few thou and call it something like...

    WCSD Superintendent Race

From what I hear from parents and teachers I agree with the ABC formula. It appears that Mrs. Anderson has supreme authority and the board only rubber stamps her decisions, teachers live in fear and parents and other concerned citizens are ignored.
  37. R

    Campaign Financing

One would assume that when a law limits individual campaign contributions the idea is to level the playing field so that not so well connected, qualified people might have a chance to win an election. But as with most well intentioned laws this idea has been subverted. The biggest...

    Political races set

It's interesting to read the candidates' statements on the supervisor of elections site. Some of the people running seem to think that they're more qualified because their families have been in Walton county for six generations. And I also love 'member of the NRA'. So am I. So what...

Walton Officials Not Guilty of Contempt in Email Case

I'm sorry if I offended your sensibilities. I was exercising my right to voice my opinion, but if it's against your rules feel free to delete my posts. I'm sure you have the authority since you seem to be the post police.

    County Commissioner Race

I'd also like to see a candidates forum, not only for the commissioner's race but also the school board and superintendent. Scenic 30A and 395 Intersection in Seagrove Beach

Traffic light needed With summer in high gear and the increased traffic in and out of the area, I think it's time someone gave some serious thought to putting a traffic light at the 3 way stop in Seagrove Beach. Sometimes the traffic is lined up for half a mile.

    Conservative?

The only offices that Democrats can win in Walton county are school board and Mosquito board. Too bad the superintendent's position isn't NPA. Better still have the board hire a superintendent and that would eliminate party affiliation. The best argument for a hired or appointed...

South Walton TDC pursuing new visitor center site

Since the TDC is flush with cash that's burning a hole in their pockets, how about this: Build a new visitor center at the DeFuniak Springs Airport. Tourists coming in from the north run right into it. And include a "large staging area" large enough to accomodate a bizjet. Maybe a Cessna...

Where Are The Contracts ? Another Suit On The Way ?

It really is astounding that we the voters keep the same people in office and those who aren't running for re-election may be replaced with people equally as inept. But that's usually the problem anywhere there's a one party system. It's too bad we can't get over the reality that even...

    Conservative?

I'm more libertarian than anything else. I dislike the direction the country is going in and I'll vote for Romney and the whole Republican ticket on the national level. On a local level, I'll consider the qualifications and any other information I can get on the candidates. The corruption in...
