    Old Florida Fish House

We ate there two summers ago and swore not to return. The food was expensive for what we received, portions were tiny and the service was not good. The sauce of the night was strawberry beurre blanc, which sounds like a horrible combination, so I asked for the grouper with a plain beurre blanc...

    Seaside Yard Sale

:idontno: Will be down 10/7-10/21, first time to be lucky enough to experience the Seaside Yard Sale. Do people bring their wares to the area behind the post office, or do customers walk around to the various yards that are participating? Can't wait to be in SoWal!!:clap_1:

    when does school start back?

Miss Kitty - Please accept my application for your skool of etticat. I am a great fundraiser, and a fine institution such as yours must need ways to defray some of the cost (refreshments, lost clothing, etc.). I suggest that we students wear our shortest little school uniforms and stand in...

    Appetizer good for hot weather

Linda, I make the same tomatoes, but sometimes use mayo, chopped green onion and crumbled bacon for filling. Everyone loves the little BLTs.

    when does school start back?

In Knoxville they go back on Aug. 9th. Along the same line - when do all of your children have fall break? We are one of the unfortunate couples  who visit SoWal in October, and last year was more crowded and included more children than ever before because of fall break.

:( I don't understand Chris' reference to Meghann. What has become of her (I assume she is the young lady in the car with Kylie). Such a horrible tragedy.

    Directions for Dummies.....

:clap_1: Same way we have been going for the past 3-4 yrs. Used to go through Georgianna, but this seems to be much quicker, and the old houses in some of the communities you go through are just beautiful. Not much scenery if you go the I-65 Georgianna route.

    Leeward II

:( Thanks for the pictures Mermaid. We were at Eastern Shores in October, and Leeward I was still there, complete with sinks hanging off the walls, furniture in the sand, etc. It was my understanding that this damage is from Ivan. At least the owner of one of the condos at Eastern Shores told...

What Part of the Beach Is Yours?

 We are not the only ones who do that? We not only stay on the same beach, we stay in the same condo! We have stayed one time at One Seagrove, and one year we rented a house in Summer's Edge, but otherwise we are at Eastern Shores. We like that we can walk right out our door onto the...

We were in paradise Oct 8-22, and the only SoWal stickers I saw were on poles. Does anybody who lives there put them on their vehicles?? I was curious.

    Grayton Sunset Get-Together

 Thanks Joe. I didn't mean to cause such a stir, it just came across to me like we were idiots or something because we didn't know where Ed Walline is. You are right - doesn't sound like a big deal. I hear it mentioned a lot, and Gulf Place, and have seen GP, just didn't know what it...

    Grayton Sunset Get-Together

Thanks Rita and Ocean Lover. I have driven by and noticed Miss Lucille's - have never stopped in there. I have also been wondering where Smiling Fish is. I love the little shops in Seaside and Grayton, and we always try to pick up a piece of art work while on vacation, so - Gulf Place here I...

    Grayton Sunset Get-Together

 RO you didn't offend me. I appreciated the info about parking, just not SJ's comment. We are not there yet, but will be Saturday afternoon, and will think about you and GB while there. I can't wait. Will wave out my window when passing through the Nooga.

    Grayton Sunset Get-Together

 I did what I should have done to begin with and looked up Ed Walline on a Google search. We love to explore the area while we are there, but we don't usually head west because we don't "do" Destin. I didn't mean to offend you, Smiling JOe, by asking for information about the area...

    Grayton Sunset Get-Together

Where is parking for Grayton Beach? We are not landowners, and therefore do not have a beach permit, however would like to join in the SoWal OMC. Also - where is Ed Walline and Gulf Place? Don't recall seeing them in 10 years of exploring. :idontno: Can't wait to get to Seagrove on...

    Motorcycle Fun

We have a Harley Sportster 1200. Not big enough for touring but great for getting around, i.e. Eden State Gardens, St. Andrews, maybe Pensacola, Mexico Beach. We don't mind long, straight roads. They are quite a change from the roads in the Smokies, and riding anywhere is good for the soul!

Any riders there 10/8-10/22? Mr. Star and I are really excited about exploring on the bike this year, and would love to have others join us for some fun rides. :bicycle:

    What's in your beach fridge?

I love jello shots, but have never made them. Got a favorite recipe you'd like to share? We will be in Seagrove 10/8-10/22 and can't wait to get there. Last year we only got 2 days worth of SoWal before Ivan ran us out. Hope for better weather this year! Also, bringing the...

    Earl's Pearls - "Beach Wisdom"

 What is the deal with this guy? Is he a complete idiot, or does he just like to draw attention to himself? I read his statement yesterday on the board about burning tires on the beach and I almost fainted. What a JERK.

    Hurricane Katrina - I

Re: Tropical Depression # 12 :clap_1: Way to go Lollygal! I was thinking the same thing when I saw your post. Here's hoping Katrina stays on the east coast and heads north. Will be down in October and don't want it to be any worse than it already is - hot temps, biting flies...

    Sunrise Beach area

:D Hi Joe, Where are you "in the mountains"? I live in Knoxville, and if you are in the Smokies you are in my neck of the woods. I hope you are enjoying yourself, however, knowing first-hand about tourist crowds, I am surprised you came here at this time. The mountains are fabulous in...

    Eager to learn more...seaweed

Thanks, Kurt. I have seen the sargassum, just didn't know what it was. The air chambers remind me of the water hyacinths we have in our pond. The leaves of the plant grow from a large bubble-like part of the plant that keeps it afloat. Where do the little sticks with the knots on the ends...

Hi Smiling Joe, and thanks for responding to my post. Eastern Shores is on Eastern Lake Road, beside Commodore's Retreat. I saw a picture of the green four-plex, a few lots East of the BIG PINK house, behind Summer's Edge, and it is on the same road, only closer to Eastern Lake. Thanks for...
