    Trespassing on the Beach

No, I have been a VBA myself for a few years. There are also paid ambassadors. Same aqua color shirt, but theirs are embroidered, not silkscreened. That's the easiest way to differentiate visually. Most VBAs roam the beaches, also.

    Trespassing on the Beach

Hmmmm....let's agree to disagree. I know ambassadors who sit under umbrellas at Fort Panic and Hwy 83. You are underestimating the heat and the tourists' demeanors and overestimating the compensation. I also wasn't necessarily comparing lifeguards, just trying to express how difficult it is...

    Trespassing on the Beach

To Blue Mountain Beach vagrant.....I for one do not think the Beach Ambassador program will be sufficient, for a couple of reasons. First, I doubt they will be able to hire enough to be effective. There's already a great need for lifeguards (obviously a specific skillset) and a need for...

    Need legal help with will/trust

Family member moved to FL this summer and needs will and trust set up in FL. It has already been done in another state and relative only wants it recopied, notarized, etc. according to FL law. Should be very simple, not trying to reinvent the wheel, and seeking lawyer to accomplish this before...

30A Closed at Deer Lake For Bridge Replacement On Oct 30, 2023

Hello, eastside 30A folks! I understand everyone's concern about businesses, etc. Those of us on the western side of things have experienced this on and off for several years. We've had at least 3 bridges replaced west of Grayton and it was quite the pain. I hate to say it, but it had to be...

Hotel Effie: Luxury Spa Treatments for Wellness Month (August)

I splurged at Spa Lilliana the other day and enjoyed it thoroughly. Very calm and elegant surroundings with attentive staff. Recommend Gracie for a massage and Kimber for a facial. No hard sell on products afterwards, either. 10% discount for locals, not sure if that's limited to week days.

    Papa Surf Burger Bar?

Does anyone have info on this restaurant? Looks like it's going in where Bloom's used to be. I've heard they plan on delivering food to the beach. There's been much work done at the site but at least the mature citrus trees out front haven't been taken down (yet).

    Heads up to Brickyard residents.....

Yes, many. I'm super busy this weekend but, in short, the Inn has gated the road but not the pedestrian access. For all those interested, please sign the below petition to stop this egregious, and illegal, blocking of our rights to use the walkover and beach easement...

What are you guys (and the rest of us) going to do about 30A?

Freeport is about to boom! I was skeptical at first but am now a true believer. Lots of folks moving there for good reasons--less traffic, more value, etc. Wish them all the best.

Why is Restaurant Charging for Ice Water

I've heard that a "Thai deli/market" will be opening in that westernmost parcel. Will only be open during the day. A title company is going in that building as well. I heard this in a HOA Zoom meeting. I'm sorry I don't have more specific info.

Thai Chiang Rai restaurant now open in Santa Rosa Beach

We went last night. Somehow felt like we were cheating on Thai Elephant! They've been our go to for years. I think there's plenty of demand for both places. The crab fried rice was excellent (dinner special) and the hubby got the som tum/chicken quarter dinner special. Som tum (papaya salad)...

    Motorized Vehicles

On a somewhat similar note, on Sunday I saw a golf cart driver get cited for driving on the bike path just east of Blue Mountain Creamery. It was neither SWPD nor the Posse, but a different type of patrol car. I'm sorry I can't remember. The guy look surprised and I was so happy to see it.

    Curfew in Seaside/ Watercolor?

How can you card people and send those under 25 away? On public roads? This makes no sense. Life, liberty, etc. It's not for the local governments and police to make sure those under 25 don't rent lodging or cars. You do realize that there are people living here who are in that age group...

    Heads up to Brickyard residents.....

I know the Village does through the HOA. I'm raising this issue for Brickyard residents to check their deeds. This access will be fob-controlled. Easier to address before gate is built.

    Heads up to Brickyard residents.....

Apparently the condos at the Inn at Blue Mountain Beach will be putting up a gate on Blue Lupine Road to keep people from using the access between them and the Retreat. It's happening...look at your closing papers and see if you have anything about deeded beach access to that point. I suspect...

    Sound of Freedom?

That's probably the BUFF that flew over the Super Bowl. At the end of the national anthem, a B-52, a B-2, and a B-1 flew over the stadium. The numbers add up to 55. Get it??

    Abandoned Boat at Gulfview Heights

Yes, same boat but it's at the water's edge and half full of sand. Depending on the tide it's partially in the water as well. The people who own the home clearly know the situation; I'm just curious as to what happens next. It has a couple of beer cans in it, too. How people haven't raided...

    Abandoned Boat at Gulfview Heights

I've been meaning to post this for a few days. Does anyone know anything about the boat on the beach between Gulfview Heights and the Ed Walline access? I know which house it belongs to and there have been people there within the last week or so. Just curious when it will be moved, etc. It's...

    Double Red Flag Violators

Thank you for your actions. Sadly this is getting more common. People routinely ignore double reds. A man recently told a lifeguard he was a doctor and that she was more than welcome to drag his dead body out of the water because he was definitely going back in. True story.

Need to borrow live animal trap

Does anyone have a live animal trap I can borrow? Need one about the size for a raccoon (but will be used for feral cats/kittens). The delightful folks I spoke with at WC Animal Control do not trap or lend traps in the heat of the summer. I would have it in my backyard and watch it...

    Feral cats and kittens

We have a feral mama cat (at least one or two adults) and several kittens on our property. They're living under our porch, shed, etc. About 6 in all (?). The kittens are probably third generation and are surely inbred. Does anyone have any idea how to get them trapped, spayed, neutered, and...

Bluewater Landing - DR Horton project on 30A at Draper Lake

Good grief! How many times are they going to reschedule this? I hope this is a sign that they are re-evaluating their project, but I have nothing to support that. Let's keep up on this so we can continue to show our disapproval of this proposed development.

Bike path "spreading"--please be more mindful!

I am amazed at how some people are hogging the bike path, either walking or biking. All I ask is that if you see someone coming in the other direction, please try to go single-file, if possible. People are walking 2 and 3 abreast, taking up the entire path, while I have to walk onto the grass...
