    Asking for SoWaller's Prayers

Just adding my wishes that things improve soon. A friend of ours had fibro, so I have some small idea of the great pain that is involved. She thought it was related to stress, as her bouts were more severe under stress. After reading what you went through in the re-structuring/re-organizing...

Ok, so what am I doing wrong!

All good things in time Mermaid, (and I will try your's and Gypsea's recipes...thank you both again) but think about it...how many corn puddings  can one eat in a month without suffering the obvious, unfortunate consequences? We're (ok just me :floor: ) on a diet of salad and the like...

Ok, so what am I doing wrong!

No...the recipe didn't specify eggs at room temp. I'll make sure they are next time I try it. Thanks for the suggestion  and I think you're probably right about the over-whisking too!

    Mike Vick

When I first heard about this, I felt sick to my stomach. After reading such posts here as SJ's (whom I believe is on to something here), I got to thinking. Are we, as a people, moving in that direction, generally? Has anyone heard of/watched extreme fighting? What about today's "action"...

Ok, so what am I doing wrong!

florida girl an extra egg sounds like a good idea. And I think you're right about the corn too. The corn I used both times was called peaches 'n cream. It did need more sauteing time. The ricotta I used was quite moist...so perhaps a drier type??? I did use salted butter. I agree about...

Ok, so what am I doing wrong!

Good suggestion MindfulVeg. I've never even heard of an oven thermometer...just the ones you use in the food itself. I've come to the conclusion that my first pudding overflowed, perhaps, because I used a dark pan and didn't adjust the temperture to allow for it. Also, I may have whisked a...

Ok, so what am I doing wrong!

I should have added above, the only thing I changed was to saute the onion and corn until the corn was tender. I found that the 4 minutes she suggested wasn't long enough. The onion was ok, but the corn kernels were still "crunchy" when the pudding came out of the oven.

Ok, so what am I doing wrong!

It IS yummy...the parts we could eat. I just can't seem to get the consistency right. I'm going to try it again, though. Just have to eat a few salads in the meantime :floor:

Ok, so what am I doing wrong!

Has anybody tried the Sagaponack Corn Pudding recipe (Ina Garten's recipe)? I have tried twice now, and obviously, I'm doing something wrong. I made it again last night. I followed the recipe regarding measurements, etc., both times. The first time, it overflowed into the water. Last...

    Sweet Corn Pudding recipe please

Mermaid, this sounds so good. I will try it. We have had our BBQ. I did Ina Garten's recipe. I think I did something wrong, or her call for a 8 to 10 cup souffle/baking dish was off. Mine overflowed a little. Okay, a lot.  It was still great tasting. Everyone said they...

Fresh Market coming to Pier Park (unofficially)

I'm not familiar with Fresh Market...every Christmas, we "spring" for Christmas dinner at our son, daughter-in-law and grandbabies from Whole Foods. I was disappointed last year though...no stone crab claws and a lot less choice. If Fresh Market is coming, we'll certainly try it out when we're...

    Cornbread Muffins

Thanks Kathy. In my heart, I feel that I am a southern gull. My reality, however, is that I am a northern girl. If Doug was the chef before your NO-style cuisine, I think we've met him. My husband and I will definitely be at D&K's this winter when we're down. We love Nawlin's cuisine :wub...

    Cornbread Muffins

A great result of my "fresh corn pudding" recipe request were the many references to cornbread. I remember, as a very young adult, going to a restaurant for my husband's grandpa's birthday, where they served the best cornbread muffins. They were still warm and when you broke them apart and...

    Sweet Corn Pudding recipe please

These all sound so good. Dune-AHH, I'm going try your recipe. As someone here said anything with ricotta cheese in it has got to be great! Also, the Jiffy recipe sounds good too...ummmm so many great recipes...so little time :rolling:  Oh, and Miss Kitty, you're invited. Just get in...

    Sweet Corn Pudding recipe please

It's our turn for the "ribs 'n chicken" bbq. I've heard of sweet corn pudding, but can't find a recipe. The ones I've found call for canned corn. Does anyone have a sweet corn pudding recipe they'd be willing to share?

    Thoughts on tipping...

I should have added to my previous post...do you know what it costs to serve a meal in a restaurant? The rent (if you don't "own" the establishment), the taxes, the chef and assistants, the wait staff, the linens, cutlery, china, FOOD, utilities, etc., etc.,...and on and on...I think it's...

    Thoughts on tipping...

thoughts on tipping...mmm...don't know for sure where the good doctor is coming from...we tip 20% here on top of 14% tax...here, as I said...we tip 20% when we're "away" on top of whatever tax is applicable. My thoughts on tipping are that it is a shame that the wait staff isn't paid a living...

    Snowbirds Shorten Vacations

I can see how the "snowbird" thing can really get to people...I'm a "snowbird". My husband and I were at a local restaurant a few days ago. There were two couples at the table next to us. When the wait person was in the vicinity of their table, one of the gentlemen said "Butter". The waiter...

    Party dessert recipe needed

How about a Pavlova? Bake a single large meringue (or you can do individual ones). When the meringue has cooled completely pile whipped cream on and add your choice of fresh fruit. Sliced Strawberries and Kiwis, I believe, are traditional. Meringue has few ingredients and is simple to...

Awwww, thanks for laughing steele mama. I was thinking that perhaps my tangent as well as my sense of humor were out of line here. Besides, since I don't know how to "cut and paste" , it took me forever to type out my "recipe"

    Any suggestions?

Oh Paula, Rockport! We love Cape Ann...a postcard indeed! In fact, our home (which was built over 30 years ago now) is a Cape Ann design, complete with gambrel roof. On the weekend, I mulled over your idea of "if I could have a place other than SoWal..." where would it be. Though some areas...

    Any suggestions?

Thanks, Amylouky. I'll mention the Newport Aquarium to them. Paula, many, many moons ago, we drove to New England in the fall. The drive down the Boston Post Road (Hwy 1, I believe) was amazingly beautiful. I have fond memories of eating at Thompson's (sp) Clam Bar too, where purportedly...

Yes, 71 from Cincinnati to Louisville. Cheering472 and Paula, I hear you. Fly! We actually offered to fly them out for a visit. They said they were worried about the children and the stop-over in Atl. I really don't understand why they'd rather drive. It seems like such a long, long trip...

Thanks for the help and for the suggestion about the Slugger Museum too! I see that I did mess up on Mapblast... Good thing that when we drive, I'm the driver...not the navigator!

    Any suggestions?

Thanks amylouky. They are about 1 hour outside of Detroit, but from what you say, it looks like I messed up somehow with mapblast. Perhaps those cities are the best choices to stop for the night after all!

    Any suggestions?

Family members of ours are driving from just outside Detroit to SoWal for a visit in the up-coming months. It's about a 19 or 20 hour drive down. They want to make the trip over three days. There are young children involved, and DVD's only hold their interest for so long! I've looked at...
