    bye JoePa

as I have said before, there is no justification in my mind for anyone refusing to intervene on behalf of someone being raped; especially if the victim is a child.

    bye JoePa

I am with SB on this one; but you make an interesting point. IMO one would have to be intimidated by, or in awe of a boss, in order to be able to walk away from an adult person molesting a child...and it seems that 'way too many people at this school (and perhaps others) are intimidated by the...

    Public Libraries Endangered --

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/16/can-the-american-library-_n_1096484.html?ncid=webmail15 Anyone want to step up to restore our libraries? especially Saturday hours for Walton County libraries? I think it is a shortsighted decision on the County's part to close the library to those...

    bye JoePa

He was the Coach, FTLOG, he had an obligation to check it out...if his grad. assistant was concerned enough to tell him anything...as the Coach he was obligated to make sure there was no harm being done to anyone. There is no excusing him or any of the rest of them...especially the eye witness...

    bye JoePa

too bad he (and all of them) didn't take a course in ethics and common decency a long time ago. I'm with Scooterbug--putting the fear of losing a job or idolizing a football coach, above the life of a child, is disgusting and cowardly. How anyone can read the Grand Jury report and have any...

"Turtle Bob" at the Emerald Coast Library this morning

I think he told us, but I don't recall. They were very pretty--I think he did a fantastic job fielding all those questions from such enthusiastic, well informed children...great program -- my grandson loved the snake too; he is still talking about it.

"Turtle Bob" at the Emerald Coast Library this morning

Thanks to the Emerald Coast Library and Turtle Bob for a great start to the Summer Program. It was a packed Community Room and "kids' of all ages enjoyed the turtles and the snake and learning about the gophers... Turtle Bob was a master at fielding questions from all sides; and we all learned...

Budget cutting recommendations for Walton County

I wonder if the County has ever considered an Intern Program to handle some of the "staff" work. College or high school students that would work a few hours each week to assist Commissioners or their staff. The students would get valuable training and hopefully credit for some classes--do an...

Alaqua Animal Refuge to receive ownership of Champ

this is great news. I did not follow every detail of this story. Was the reason for the neglect (could there be one?) ever revealed? Such a sad situation; so glad that the little horse was rescued and saved.

    Panhandling at stop signs

I think it is a really bad idea anytime for any group. I will not donate in traffic...there are much better ways to get contributions for worthy causes...ways that do not entail endangering anyone...to do it during a summer holiday on 30A is beyond inappropriate IMO.
  15. G

Anyone know what's happening at 30A and 98?

It will be hard to say now that the Growth Management Law has been almost completely abolished. Already heard of organizations wanting to buy up forest land for offices...so, we have to watch carefully to be sure...IMO a sad day for the environment in Florida when the Governor and Legislature...

Walton Public Schools to be cut $6 Million under the 2011 budget

WJHG TV reported a $6 million cut to Walton County schools...that the reporter said school officials only learned about today...apparently similar cuts for Bay and Jackson Counties as well. Not good for our students IMO.

Dining out with peanut/tree nut allergy

Hi all, I have been away from Internet on a trip. This is a serious situation I'll share more ofour experience later. I am also curious about why it is becoming more common. In our case, it is a life threatening situation and there is nothing to be done except the Epipen to administer the...

Dining out with peanut/tree nut allergy

yeah, it is a real problem particularly if one is allergic to just a trace of the nuts...ice cream shops are out--has made life very different for my grandson. Some of his favorite things to do he can no longer do...so that means no one in the family can either. It is difficult.

    TDC Brand Meetings

good points, Geo. my concern is, if this Marketing Firm was "locked in" to this tag line...and really didn't see the problems with it before the pushback from the community...then, what else will they lock into? As you say, we had the same situation with the Big Blue signs... although the...

The TDC Wants 7 Solar Powered Trash Compactors

I agree, Bob, why can't the TDC put out a news release on things like this? Or place info here on Sowal...it seems they (and other county entities as well) are missing out on a good communication tool..Sowal functions as our daily news source--so why not send out a news release...

The TDC Wants 7 Solar Powered Trash Compactors

    WCSB Special Referendum 5/17/2011

    Walton TDC Presents New Branding
