    2021 - 2022 School schedules

Kurt, where can you find the rental report you mention in your post? Thanks.

    Seaside is Busy in October

Agreed. Every day is like July on 30A right now, a never ending wave of tourists. IMO, it is largely due to the pandemic, no kids in school and everyone working from home. Hard to see how this could continue indefinitely.

723 Whiskey Bravo will not reopen

Whatever you think of WB, (I never went there, so have no opinion), it's sad to see another restaurant closing. 30A/SoWal already has a limited selection of not particularly good restaurants, so anything that limits the already meagre range of choices further, is not good for the area.

Vacation Rental News & Info Regarding COVID-19

Agreed 100%. I’d be surprised if even 10% of these guidelines are ever followed or put into practice. As long as the $ are flowing in, who cares?

Vacation Rental News & Info Regarding COVID-19

The WCBCC plan comes across as rushed and unrealistic; to try and push it through for this weekend doesn't allow time for the relevant parties to prepare for these guidelines to be adhered to. And the comments accompanying the plan, quoted above in red, are just embarrassing.

Do You See Violations Of The Governor's Suspension Of Rentals?

I’m pretty sure the categories you mention are not in dispute, and generally would not fall under most people’s understanding of the term “vacation rentals”.

Wildfire in South Walton: Updates - Arrest Made

Oh no. Not a controlled burn; I'm pretty sure there was a fire warning for today's conditions, so controlled burns would have been postponed.

Ending to Suspension of Vacation Rentals ?

My understanding is that mid May is the *very earliest* that the rental ban may be modified, more likely end of May, early June. Remember, it is covered under Phase 1 of the re-opening, which only began *2 days ago*.

Do You See Violations Of The Governor's Suspension Of Rentals?

Some amazing responses to this thread. It's pretty simple. In the words of the Sheriff himself: “If you don’t live or own property here, you’re not supposed to be here; the only people who should be on the beach right now are property owners or local residents." While I am not sure about...

Vacation Rental News & Info Regarding COVID-19

Rosemary Beach website is taking bookings for next week or earlier and offers no mention of the vacation rental ban. Sheriff might want to take a look at that.

Do You See Violations Of The Governor's Suspension Of Rentals?

At Publix at Carillon this morning, it's clear there are renters here. Saw one couple loading groceries into their car (TX plates), along with newly purchased beach chairs and boogie boards; that's just one example of many. Also, does anyone know why Rosemary Beach is allowing vacation rentals...

Seaside Commercial District: Updates Summer 2020

Agreed. Putting the virus to one side for a second, just as a general remark, the number of people in Seaside during the season is almost out of control.

This is crazy. Why the hell can't people just stay away?

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Relatively big jump here; we have been steady in the low 30s for a couple of weeks. Expect this to keep climbing now that the beaches are open and people just can't stay away.

Walton County Beaches Opening May 1

That is correct. Vacation rentals have been suspended indefinitely by the Governor.

You are correct, had this confirmed this morning by legal. It is currently indefinite.

Plan for Florida's Recovery: Phases for Reopening

Appears that the vacation rental ban has been extended until May 4th, at which time it will be extended further by a subsequent EO.
  23. R

Plan for Florida's Recovery: Phases for Reopening

My *guess* regarding vacation rentals is that the ban will be extended by a further two weeks; I'm saying that partly because I think it is the correct thing to do, but mostly because *not extending it* really flies in the face of all the things DeSantis has been talking about this week.
  24. R

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Let's hope that those baby steps include an extension on the vacation rental ban.
  25. R

Walton County Beaches Opening May 1

A huge part of the problem is that Walton County has no control *at all* over vacation rentals; the influx of people from major metro areas as soon as the vacation rental ban expires is going to cause the biggest problem of all and the county has no power to address it.
  26. R

Walton County Beaches Opening May 1

Hard to know what DeSantis is going to do here; he's saying things like "moving forward in baby steps", "opening up responsibly", which would lead you to believe he understands what a mistake opening up short term rentals at this time would be, but something tells me he is going to let the...

Walton County Moves to Open Beaches May 1

Agreed. One issue that became clear at yesterday's meeting is that WC has no control at all over vacation rentals, which is unfortunate. A phased in opening of the beaches, then vacation rentals later in the month would have made more sense, but there's simply no way to do that. I saw an email...

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Watching/listening to the WCBC Emergency Meeting right now. Vacation rental owners and people who don't live or even own a property here, calling in telling the Board to open up the beaches is......amazing.

Seaside Commercial District: Updates Summer 2020

Agreed. Seaside has taken the lead from the beginning, making tough but necessary decisions and has set the example for 30A. I think vacation rentals need to continue to be banned for May, but it’s hard to see DeSantis doing this. If the beaches start to re-open and vacation rentals are...

Vacation Rental News & Info Regarding COVID-19

The suspension is until April 30th. It could be extended, I guess, if the situation hasn’t improved by then. I hope you can get a refund/reschedule if it comes to that; this isn’t the time to be going on vacation. I hope it works out for you.

Vacation Rental News & Info Regarding COVID-19

Hey Kurt, thanks for your reply. I agree with all of the above, however my real question in starting this thread was to find out whether or not people thought the 2 week vacation rental ban will be extended beyond April 10th; I personally believe it *should* be extended to be in line with the...

Vacation Rental News & Info Regarding COVID-19

This topic came up in the Covid-19 thread. Prior to issuing the state-wide Stay At Home order for all of Florida which took effect Thursday night, Governor De Santis issued a two week ban on vacation rentals on March 28th, which is currently set to expire on April 11th. The circumstances on the...

Spring Break 2020 AKA Spring Broke

This is incorrect. The order explicitly states that no new guests should be checked in for the duration of the order, which, given the developments since it was issued, you would have to assume will now be extended beyond April 10th.
  38. R

Spring Break 2020 AKA Spring Broke

It’s hard to believe that with De Santis having now issued a statewide stay at home order, that he’s going to allow vacation rentals to resume next week.
  39. R

Spring Break 2020 AKA Spring Broke

Looks like I was wrong. Rode through Seaside/Watercolor yesterday and it was like a ghost town; very different story today. Saw several 360 Blue vans outside houses in Watercolor with people arriving. I thought vacation rentals had been cancelled? Either way, there are clearly more people here...

Spring Break 2020 AKA Spring Broke

Hopefully none at all. All vacation rentals have been cancelled and all beaches public and private are now closed. If they own a home here, they are within their rights to come here, but they'd have to know that everything is shut down.

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Now that the Federal govt has extended the mitigation/distancing phase until April 30th, I can only assume that Rosemary Beach, Water Color Inn etc, who were looking to re-open around April 7th-12th, will now be closed until at least April 30th?
  42. R

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

This is disappointing. Nothing will be achieved by closing the beaches for a solitary week; it's also sending the wrong message to Spring Breakers.
  43. R

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Pretty sure Bay County is meeting this afternoon. Hard to see how they could keep the beaches open now.
  44. R

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

You'd have to think that if people know they can't go on the beaches, which will still all be closed during hellweek (Atlanta), and that many restaurants/bars are not supplying usual service, they will stay away. You'd *think*.
  45. R

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

I think it will be much quieter around here for the next few weeks; I certainly hope so.

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Hard to disagree with this. As long as they remain open, they are encouraging people to come. Disgraceful under the current circumstances.

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Emily, good morning. While I would not quite have responded the way Mr Sunshine did, the underlying sentiment would have been the same. If you could see what is going on here right now....it's crazy. Literally thousands of teenagers swarming all over Seaside, Rosemary Beach, all up and down 30A...

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Walton Co Sheriff press conference this afternoon said they will be enforcing as of 5am tomorrow at all public beach access points. Also, he stated that it is his understanding that State Park beaches will follow the direction of the county within which they are located.
