Agree with most of this - but the only time I went to Old Bay, the seafood was all food-service frozen.

We had our first meal at Louisiana Lagniappe this year, and it was awful. Even the grouper was pre-made/frozen with the crust on it. But our friends who dragged us there absolutely love it. Go figure.

We enjoyed meals at Christiano's on 98 (just east of the 30A turnoff) and at Stewby's in Fort Walton Beach, during our February visit. We enjoyed two lovely dinners at Christiano's on our February trip and deemed them "best new find" (barely edging out Stewby's). Fresh fish and delicious shrimp.

I have to disagree. Valentines Day was not up to snuff. Some plates served cold and my husband's grouper was way overcooked, then served cold. And $15 for a 3 oyster appetizer? I was underwhelmed, especially at $26+ a plate. And they were not very crowded.

I just read the OP again - and here's another reason why you'll like Marie's - while the sushi is divine - everything else they make (that I've tasted) was also divine, from fish tacos, to shrimp and pasta, to soup - all made from scratch and delicious. So you will both be happy!

I also vote for Marie's. Pristine fish, perfectly prepared sushi rice and very reasonable prices.

We loved loved loved Marie's when we visited 30A in February. Best sushi, best shrimp dish - can't say enough good things. I hope they are doing well, business-wise, because they deserve it!

Marie's was our best find visiting Destin and environs this winter. Beautiful, fresh food prepared with love. This little place deserves everyone's support; you will not be disappointed!

I noticed that none of you mentioned Cafe Tango. Has anyone been there since it changed hands? It used to be our favorite, and we did not get to it this year.

Is it possible that the lettuce wasn't washed and had a pathogen on it? Many restaurants are lax in washing lettuce, especially for sandwiches. Could have just been luck of the lettuce draw.
