Job Wanted Anybody know any jobs hiring at the moment?

Good heavens I miss the days when people were nice to each other on here. Lots of places are hiring. You can check the threads here, take a look on Craigslist, and on Indeed.com. My teenagers both were hired at Publix recently, and I believe they’re still looking to hire more people. It’s a...

Man dies west of Walton Dunes

A black flag with a skull and cross bones on it perhaps? Because honestly, I don’t know what it’s going to take to keep people out of the water when it’s dangerous for them to be there. This is such a sad thing to happen, and so completely preventable. It’s genuinely heartbreaking to know a...

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Could be that, then. To be honest, I’ve stopped chasing numbers for the sake of sanity because there’s so many conflicting reports on who, what, and where. I pop in here to find out what’s going on locally and focus the rest of my energy on harping on my teenagers about obsessively washing their...

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

Nearly all of the cases in DeFuniak are the result of an outbreak in a nursing home, and I doubt many people are visiting or living in their second homes in Freeport and Paxton. An easy deduction would be at the beaches.

Seaside Commercial District: Updates Summer 2020

Granted it’s been about ten or twelve years since I was last super active on this site, but I don’t recall members being so vitriolic with each other and all the name calling in threads. Is this a new thing?

Vacation Rental News & Info Regarding COVID-19

It looks like there’s a meeting scheduled for the 14th. According to the agenda posted on the WCC website, there will be a COVID update toward the end of the meeting. Whether or not that includes discussing the rental ban that’s supposed to be lifted several days prior, I have no idea. I find it...

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

The order states that going outside to exercise is still allowed, so perhaps those businesses are deemed essential. We’re not on total lockdown just yet. The order is new and I think we’re all still figuring out what it means, because it seems to leave quite a bit for interpretation. If it’s...

Grayton Beer Brewpub: dine in or carry out

No, but takeout only serves to flatten the curve. Eating your food at home instead of in a restaurant is a trivial inconvenience when it protects the health and safety of hospitality workers and other guests. Servers, bus boys, hosts and bartenders are still exposed to everyone who walks in a...

    Walton County COVID19 Updates

If public beaches are closed, no one will be allowed on them. I’m not entirely sure it’ll matter where you’re staying. Everyone will have more information tomorrow morning after the commissioners meeting.

    The Real Chautauqua

It's interesting that the handful of people who say they know which is the 'real' Chautauqa have only two or three very accusatory posts in their history and seem to be from the same camp. Oh, well. I don't have enough time to actively persue or debate this subject, as much as I'd like to...

    The Real Chautauqua

Diane revived the Chautauqua, retired, handed it over to Ann, wasn't happy with how it was being ran so began a new one. That's according to numerous DeFuniak newspaper articles last year. My personal preferance is for Ann's Chautauqa. I'm sure Diane's is good as well, but havent attended.

Bogie's in Defuniak Springs appalling (merged owner's reply)

Mr. Harding should consider that although it IS quite nice to be able to say that his restaurant has received the accolades of Tim Creehan and Colleen Caufield, it doesn't do any good to negate his good press by using a local public forum to air staffing problems and to belittle and insult...
