    Provident Roofing

Another two thumbs up for John and Providence Roofing. He came by to give us a quote on a roof repair. He also said he would keep an eye on the weather and do a temporary fix if it looked like rain. Sure enough, without us having to call him, and with rain in the forecast, he showed up to do the...

    Local Children Performing for Seniors

Some local children performed recently at Crystal Bay Senior Living in Sandestin last month. Here is a link to a youtube clip of several minutes of part of the festivities. An amazing time was had by all. A planned thirty five minute show turned into a party where seniors were dancing with...

    If there was one place....

Yes it is! It is also about giving back to the community. Just in case no one else has mentioned it, Oli and the Red Bar staff donated their time and effort Tuesday night at Butler Elementary. They supplied 300 delicious meals to help with the Butler Bear Run fundraiser. It was a pre race...

    state dri enforcement of sandestin

Will be the last what? The ultimate point of this is that the residents of Driftwood Estates want to "break through" the Sandestin gates for access in and out of their neighborhood. They have been fighting for this with Sandestin for a long time. Obviously, the gated community of Sandestin...

Cantina Laredo - Great Mexican Food

I don't understand about the reservation thing-maybe they changed their procedures. As far as the Margaritas go, ours were big and frozen and I believe $8.00, although I didn't pay so I'm not 100% sure. We had 4 adults, 3 children, dinner for all, and 5 Margaritas. The bill was about $110.00...

Cantina Laredo - Great Mexican Food

For those of you, and us, who miss Luna Del Mar, I've got great news. Cantina Laredo opened in the last couple of days at Grand Boulevard, and the food is grayt! As are the margaritas. The only bad news is that somehow the word is already out and tonight when we tried to make reservations the...

    Actual consequences of foreclosure

Believe me, I understand the psychology of those who are upside down and do not want to own up to their obligation. An investor or homeowner who wants it "gone" can try to sell, work with the bank, or ignore it. Those that are facing a loss can try to get some kind of break from the bank. Most...

    Actual consequences of foreclosure

I own a company that does asset investigations/recovery work for banks and attorneys. Much of what we do involves cases pre and post foreclosure. It all depends on the bank. If the foreclosure does not clear the balance, many will pursue a deficiency judgment. If they are successful, you not...

    Great Southern in Seaside?

We went there after not long after Shades closed, and were disappointed with food and service. We finally gave it another try recently and were pleasantly surprised at how much things had improved in both areas. Would definitely recommend it now.

    Airport, The Holy Grail?

Charlevoix is heavenly, but how do you get there quickly from anywhere? Much less Chicago. I lived in Chicago for 13 years and spent many a month in Naples when I could escape the unpredictable Chicago April and Mays (like 1989 when we had a big May snowfall-yikes!). If I had known about...

    Fresh Market opening 2/21/07

My wife went. She liked it. Her main two comments: "It's no Whole Foods." "For The Health of It has nothing to worry about." I guess she was expecting more of a health food thingy. Somewhat disappointed about that.

    Real Estate Auctions

I was speaking with a friend of mine earlier today. They inquired about selling their SoWal property through Roebuck Auctions. They owe about $700,000.00 on it, and have lowered the asking price to about $775,000.00, down from their original asking price of around $850,000.00. Roebuck told...

Best 30A Beaches for Finding Shells?

I took my 5 year old daughter to Shell Island last summer. The best part about the trip is the boat ride. There isn't anything to see once you get to Shell Island. It's just a beach, and on our trip we had about an hour to goof around once we got there. My favorite memory was on the way...

    Late May or June?

They are planning on restoring the beach at Miramar as part of the job that recently began at Sandestin. It might be finished by the middle of May in that area. The best time to go would be the time between Mother's Day and Memorial Day. The water temperature will be perfect.

    Modular Housing

I've heard that modular homes have something like 25% more wood in them than a site built home. It seems like common sense that assembling sections under controlled conditions would make them sturdier than a home pieced together under the crazy weather conditions we have around here. Don't...

Correction: Panhandle real estate sell off just starting

I have several homes here in South Walton. One was bought last summer in a neighborhood of 50 homes, at the end of the great run up in appreciation, so people say. Several months ago a home with the same floor plan sold for $100,000.00 more than I paid. Another home with a slightly smaller...

    Realtors have competition??

I have bought and sold lots of real estate. When I think of my first purchase many years ago-that was simple. Few disclosures, no attorney, few mortgage choices, all you had to look at were the MLS listing books. It's so much more complicated now. I would never even consider trying to make a...

    photos - beach restoration - 2/22/06

Went down this morning to check it out in person. There was no "earthy" smell to the project, and I was within 50 feet of where the slurry was flowing out of the pipe. After getting used to a somewhat narrower beach, it was amazing to see a section where the beach had been widened. It is...
