Cost for Shuttle or Taxi from New Airport To Inlet Beach

Complain for $20 add on fee, rediculous Hell, it'll be cheaper to go to the rental agency, rent a car, bring it home, put my bike and bike rack on it and return it to the airport same day. Then when leaving, peddle to the rental agency, rent another car and return it to the airport when I...

Cost for Shuttle or Taxi from New Airport To Inlet Beach

We have our tickets from Nashville to the new Airport at PCB (call letters are ECP) and we are excited to fly down to our house at Inlet Beach. We are looking forward to save time, however now money worries me. Our first inquiry for a taxi to carry us from the new airport to Inlet beach was...

78,000 sf Walmart coming to SoWal [opening June15]

Change is inevitable and with every passing day we are challenged to embrace it. But I can't help but want to pause and enjoy these last few moments before change comes. Where life in this place as I knew it to be was beautiful and relaxing. Just a moment to pay my respects to the past as it...

78,000 sf Walmart coming to SoWal [opening June15]

Yes, change in inevitable and there is no stopping the machine. Control is necessary, especially in as ecologically unique an area like South Walton where 15 Coastal Dune Lakes dot the area. Only 5 areas in the world are known to have Coastal Dune Lakes. American Northern Pacific Coast, New...

78,000 sf Walmart coming to SoWal [opening June15]

The Fear is the homoginization of America. You can go anywhere in America and find a Walmart. The shabby strip centers are more aptly filled with local venders (albeit some are chains). It isn't the Walmart store itself, its the place. Highway 98's scenic corridor in south Walton County is a...

78,000 sf Walmart coming to SoWal [opening June15]

All nine Publix stores you mentioned are not in the Walton County portion or what is left of their portion of the US 98 Scenic Corridor. I think Walmart is asking to errode more of what is a very finite area of escape that visitors come down to the panhandle to enjoy. As soon as you put up...

78,000 sf Walmart coming to SoWal [opening June15]

Go away Wal-Mart My whole problem with this entire Wal-Mart thing is, development along the US 98 Scenic Corridor. I have a problem with anyone building along the US 98 Scenic Corridor, let alone someone trying to color outside the lines. Love Wal-Mart as I have to do, I don't want one in...

    Commercial Real Estate problems

My earlier prediction of a down turn in the stock market seems to be abading if only due to the stimulus money having its effects on our economy. What happened with our inflationary run due to low interest rates and greedy banks is that prices went into the stratosphere. But they will come...

    Commercial Real Estate problems

Interesting delima you pose. I really don't like being a doom sayer, but I have to put my prediction somewhere, and this is as good a place as any. As a baby boomer, having lost money after the dot com bubble burst, having lost money after 9/11, we decided to invest in real estate, and now...

Can Anyone Give Me Feedback on Inlet Beach?

Another item of little notice is the ribbon cutting happening January 6, 2009 on North Orange Street or Walton Lakeshore Drive, depending on which direction you are headed. It's for the newly renovated County Dock, giving residence and visitors alike access to Lake Powell from Inlet Beach...

Lake Powell Dock Repair In Inlet Beach

Just a short update. I've been by to see the dock on Lake Powell in Inlet Beach. Looks like work is almost finished. I haven't communicated with Dave Sell since the spring. But I noticed they have the new dock looking good and have cleared a path down to it from the road, Walton Lakeshore Drive...

Can Anyone Give Me Feedback on Inlet Beach?

_______________________________________________________________ Shh! It's suppose to be a secret. What you should tell people looking for Inlet Beach is, 'I don't know where it is, but a large station wagon filled with mealymouthed little brats took off across that bridge headed to the other...

Can Anyone Give Me Feedback on Inlet Beach?

Not much to say about Inlet Beach other than it's an inlet, kind of cut off from the rest of the world what with the gulf of Mexico on one side, Lake Powell on the other and the Inlet there at the end. I mean there ain't but two or three resturants. Their food's great, if you like food. But you...

Reminder - Leave No Trace - Protect Our Beaches

Leave no trace is a state of mind we must adopt We should all adopt the Leave No Trace state of mind and expect it of our neighbors and visitors to leave no trace. Be snooty about it if you want, but expect it of everyone you see and meet on the beach. Be prideful about having one of the...

    Trash left on Seaside beach

Years ago, I remember seeing the 'Pitch In' insignia on things like garbage bins and pier entrances. A small advertisement to remind people to keep Florida clean went a long way. I don't see many little reminders like that in places now. In a lot of Florida State Parks there is a neet little...

    Beach Ownership

We have a public road on our property as well. We brought this to the attention of the tax assessor's office and they exempted the road from our assessed property size. It reduced our taxes somewhat without changing the property deminsions we own.

    Closest car wash??

Last weekend, I had to drive out to the one near the Hathaway Bridge on 98 in PCB. They have two pull-ins with automatic arms but very little space once two cars pull in, if they have to wait behind a car just getting hooked onto the conveyer. Great wash and vacuums but a bit of a drive from...

New Publix on Hwy 98 in SoWal breaking ground

I have friends that tell me about how wonderful Wegman's is. I have loved Publix as far back as I can remember. Whenever I go to Publix, I tell friends and family I am going to pleasure myself. It's a play on their great advertising slogan, 'Where shopping is a pleasure.' And it is...

Enforcement for remove it or lose it?

Curious, how many code enforcers and night-time junk gatherers do you suppose even half of $260,000 would buy, so hard core violators can get their just desserts? I'm more worried about where the money will come from to support "remove it or loose it" and will it be enough to make the campaign...

Walton Sun compares Removal of Blue Signs to Widening Hwy 331

Sowalgayboi, my post was not focusing on the improved public safety a four laned 331 would bring with regard to the evacuation route. I believe we can all agree that is a good thing. My post did however focus on the objective of those wanting to keep South Walton beautiful. I agree with you in...

Walton Sun compares Removal of Blue Signs to Widening Hwy 331

I believe T Pagels misses the objective to make a point. If the objective of all Big Blue Sign haters were to rally support to keep South Walton beautiful by taking down those awful signs, why would supporters to keep South Walton beautiful rally behind the idea of four laning 331 to increase...

Is water skiing allowed in Western Lake

It didn't. Philips Inlet is the inlet. Lake Powell is the lake. They are two different things. The inlet is the area the bridge goes over and is the body of water which flows in from and out to the gulf. The lake is the large body of water farther inland.

Lake Powell Dock Repair In Inlet Beach

While in Inlet Beach, we tend to consider the gulf our front door, and Lake Powell our back door. I'm old schooled, when I was growing up, we considered anything after Philips Inlet bridge to be in Inlet Beach and Walton County. Still access to Lake Powell extends the shores of Inlet Beach...

Signs on 30A - here's the new plan

I don't see what all the fuss is about. Why spend any more money at all on the new wayfinding signs? We are all in agreement that the old wooden ones looked great. Let's build some more, with maybe a little larger letters, at the relatively low cost even at today's prices. Have them wind tested...

Signs on 30A - here's the new plan

P.S. I still like the old wooden signs better. Why can't we have those back? Who do we see about that? And while I'm still griping, let me just say it, the new design looks a little too chic, too refined, I don't feel as proud of these signs as I did the wooden ones. The original wooden ones...

Signs on 30A - here's the new plan

Ok, I have a problem with the number of signs. Why do we have to warn of a stop ahead? Get rid of that one. Keep the stop sign. My other problem is why do we need to reitterate what the sign is with an additional sign on the post? Just have the one sign. Get rid of the additional verbage...

New big blue signs in SoWal

As county road 30-A is not not a Federal highway, FDOT is not a mandate but rather a guideline. From what I could tell at Wednesday's TDC Workshop, the TDC did not take natural beauty, scenic pride, nor aesthetics into consideration when coming up with the designs for the signs. They simply...

New big blue signs in SoWal

Being a government worker myself, I see your point. After 3 o'clock on Fridays, there's hardly a car in the parking lot around here. I suppose SoWal is no different. Gee, I must say, it did feel good to gripe about it. Nonetheless, I understand. Great, I'll see you Wednesday afternoon then.
