    Need recs for fishing kayak

Thank you for replying, surferjoet! Been looking at some in between, hobie mirage, etc. Weight is an issue as we'll be carrying it up & down walk overs. He used a tandem kayak we had for years but want something w/pedals & rod holders, trying to stay away from extra weight

    Wintery Weather in SoWal

I've been watching bham forecasts since the storm was announced & never saw bham involved (Atlanta, yes) as we have a house in bham as well as family & friends. I only use accuweather & weather channel aps so may have missed it. The funny thing is my friends in bham have been texting all week...

    Wintery Weather in SoWal

In defense of people in bham, nothing was forecast for them; everything was supposed to be south of bham. The weather forecasters missed it big time. When it started & roads became hazardous, schools & offices closed immediately, but too late.

Wanted: Beagle for a sweet young Boy

You've probably researched this, but when our boys were little (one 5, the other 3), I asked a friend (who was a vet) which breed we should get & she immediately said, a beagle because beagles won't bite. We followed her advice & had the sweetest dog that has ever lived. Do get a beagle! I agree...

Mosquito District Town Hall Meeting Announcement

My house is beach front where we have no mosquitoes. Why is there spraying on streets that are within 200 yds of the beach? I understand that this is statewide. What a ridiculous waste of money! There are 3 houses on my street and not one of us wants spraying. How can we get the truck to bypass...

30A Songwriters Festival 2013 Updates and Photos

I would love to know the menus that will be offered during the festival since I'm looking for gluten free & some vegetarian choices. So much talent at so many places, can't go wrong there but wouldn't like being stuck with no food options.

Trolley / Tram on Scenic 30A

The trolley, bus or whatever is an awesome idea! We would definitely use it. The bars would profit big time because the driving & drinking problem has kept us home a lot. Our 30A would be so much safer if people had this option. If it's free, that's great, but if there's a charge, that's great...

First drowning of the year- be careful out there!

One of the drownings was near our walkover...very helpless feeling. I called SWFD to ask what size life ring I should attach to my walkover and was convinced not to do so. To sum it up, the safety director for the beaches said that if I could assure that someone would throw in the ring & not...

Movie Theater Coming to Grand Blvd?

Urban Meyer Resigns / Muschamp Hired

Heard from an Auburn friend that Coach Chizit had interviewed...if that's true & he leaves, Auburn fans may be in for some probation years. For some reason, I don't think he was involved in the Cam payment situation. I think Urban already has someone selected, but not sure who.

Urban Meyer Resigns / Muschamp Hired

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Urban did this now because he wants Dan Mullen to take over for him. He was probably concerned Mullen was considering the Miami job. He's made enough money that he can take a few years off & rethink coaching.

Since tourism is actually our "bread & butter" that smell helps to thin the cupboard, something we really don't need right now.

What did YOU have for dinner tonight

Guess I'm the only wierdo in the group...I sauteed some shrimp in olive oil, garlic & red pepper flakes & served it over romaine, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, boiled egg & little feta, dressed with my vinagrette (olive oil, red wine vinegar, garlic, pepper, & dijon). For dessert, it was crunchy...

    Good Apples in Seagrove

James told me on Mon. that they were changing their hours, opening earlier & closing earlier; sorry that I can't remember what time they'll open for breakfast now. They also have the best greek salad on 30A (think they call it Mediterranean). I usually get it with the spicy tuna on top...yum!

    Alligator viewing

It is a bit of a drive (stay off of Front Beach Road to make it better), but the best state park to see alligators & birds is St. Andrews in Panama City. We saw plenty on an easy hike there. Don't take any small dogs!

    Dolphins

I haven't seen any lately but then again, I ususally don't when the water is as rough as it's been the last several days. How's the fishing?

Hubby caught a redfish that was 29" on Friday (over the limit) which he threw back but also caught a nice pompano we got to keep. The last few days, he caught another redfish 26" we ate tonight, and a few ladyfish and catfish. The really strange catch today was a turtle that took a sandflea on a...

One More Salad Dressing I replaced balsamic with red wine vinegar (Heinz is actually very good). Many days I just sprinkle on olive oil & red wine vinegar. Try that if the lemon one doesn't suit. You're so right to avoid sugar!

    Property Insurance Cancellation

We've been told by our insurance company that unless we add outdoor shutters on all of our windows (most of them are covered), our policy will be dropped. Need a healthy food caterer
