Friday, January 9
6-8pm
Meet at Fonville Press

Alan Knothe will guide us on an up close and personal
tour of the Heavens, starting with a lecture on the cycle
of a star which will cover how the stars are formed, the stages they go
through and what happens after they burn out. This will also cover black holes.
Stargazing will follow the hour long lecture.

cool. I love looking at the stars, and with the right lecturer, learning about stars is AMAZING. Don't get sucked into the vortex (black hole)! I wish my college Astronomy teacher was the "right" lecturer. Those were the most difficult classes which I ever took -- physics, geometry, Calculus, Chemistry, etc, all rolled into one class about something which we cannot come close to touching.

Thanks a lot to Alan Knothe and Alys Beach for last night's stargazing event. The talk, which preceded the actual gazing, was about the life cycle of stars. Then, the gazing was highlighted by looking at some specific stars that had been discussed in the talk. Well presented, informative, and fun. Highly recommended. And, very important, the weather was cooperative.

My only suggestion is that it would help not to have the next event so close to the full moon. :D
