On Tuesday evening, July 13 at 8:30 we will welcome filmmaker and FSU Film School alum, Josh Tickell who will screen his award-winning and highly relevant documentary FUEL at the Alys Beach Amphitheatre.

Josh Tickell?s work has taken him from the grease dumpsters of Florida and the farms of the Australian Outback to the Laboratories of the Department of Energy and the oil refineries of the Gulf Coast. He has worked with and directed actors such as Woody Harrelson and musicians such as Sheryl Crow. In addition to his directorial work, he is the author of two books around sustainable energy: From the Fryer to the Fuel Tank - The Complete Guide to Using Vegetable Oil as an Alternative Fuel, and Biodiesel America.

As a director, Tickell focuses on sustainable energy, environmentally conscious films, and films with a social impact. His film FUEL won the 2008 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award for Best Documentary. The movie was released theatrically in the United States and played in theaters for over a year, during which time it reached critical acclaim in over 50 cities.

He has engineered a number of successful social impact campaigns for clients such as Sapphire Energy, Hero bx, Green Mountain Energy, Paul Mitchell Systems, and Solazyme. Tickell has acted as an energy and marketing consultant for companies such as Clif Bar, Audi, Yum Brands, and Long John Silver?s.

Having grown up in the polluted bayous of South Louisiana, Tickell was extensively involved in hurricane disaster relief efforts. His nonprofit organization was selected by President Bill Clinton as a part of the Global Initiative on Climate Change.

We look forward to seeing you on July 13 and hope you will spread the word about this upcoming event. Josh will participate in a Q & A following the presentation. Because of the subject matter and the technical nature of the film we suggest that the film be recommended for senior high school students and above. For more information, visit The Fuel Film

I was just down the street from you! I wish I had read this earlier, Chandra.

Great film and a must see. It is very thorough, interesting, thought-provoking, and powerful. Thanks to Josh and Rebecca for making and producing the film and the question and answers which followed. Thanks also to FSU Torchlight Series, along with Alys Beach, for making the event happen.
