They are being given an opportunity. If they don't address it themselves, the County will, hopefully, sooner than later.

Playing patty cake. Self correcting "opportunity" usually translates to a long timeline (years). After next season - it will be a "final warning", then then next season after that we might have some meaningful changes for the following season. The only thing vendors will understand is an ordinance which spells out expected behaviors and outcomes. Far too much energy being pumped into making Larry Jones' fantasy come true and not enough into fixing the TDC.

So with the overwhelming opposition of the vendors having control of 50% of the public beaches, there’s nothing mentioned about this?

Are they also constitutionally protected? :dunno:

Re trash: In most cases, all it would mean is that the TDC has traversed the sand to get to trash receptacles. That isn't particularly helpful to the public being able to use the beach for recreational purposes.
It also means that people, other than the TDC, have been traversing the beach to put trash in the cans.

If trash pich up isnt an issue then I wonder why they they were told to not pick it up. Interesting.
In some, not all cases, it was because of the constant vehicular tracks all over the sand (and not just the maintenance crews). If you review the best practices on the beach that are used by our state parks, you will find that trucks running the dry sand is harmful to wildlife and the beach, in general. The parks do not have trash receptacles on the beach, but rather on the top side of the walkovers. There are also areas that trash was picked up from both the beach and the top of the walkover that did not need pickup from the beach at all. In those cases, it seems prudent to avoid running trucks back and forth unnecessarily.

Running vehicles on the beach is not the best practice. Agreed! ....but that's not the context of your post above. I could quote it but you can just scroll up.

What other vehicles were on the beach? They are the only ones allowed on the beach (other than permitted vehicles at Grayton and Inlet). I am pretty sure it is ALL about supposed "private property" trash being picked up for years, using bed tax $$ and IS an important part of customary use. Why else would their lawyers be trying to get that wording back- doored and not in the sunshine into a "beach vendor" ordinance?
