Alaqua Animal Refuge | Facebook Post:

Alaqua Animal Refuge recently took in over 50 dogs from a puppy mill/breeding operation in Jackson County, Florida. Officials removed between 125-135 dogs from the scene, were held over the weekend, and many were adopted. The remaining dogs - the sick, injured, pregnant, and mothers with nursing babies came to us early yesterday.

A sample of what is here:

A little Chihuahua who is unable to remain standing because her back legs are not working appears to be pregnant.

A Yorkie mom, who has already lost two newborn puppies prior to arriving here picks up her remaining two babies and constantly is trying to move them because she is so stressed (resting comfortably now in foster).

VERY senior female dogs without teeth, with huge nipples that look like dozens of litters have used them over the years, are covered in skin tags and tumors and are pregnant once again.

ADORABLE puppies are just a waiting game because they are so young and have been exposed to so much - prayers that they survive.

Tiny newborn puppies appear to have had their tails already cut off (open wounds) and are struggling to survive.

Alaqua Animal Refuge is so motivated and committed to STOP THIS. We must make these breeders accountable, pay taxes, and open to inspection.

All puppies will not be placed up for adoption (no applications being accepted yet) until they are cleared from potential illness (at least a month or more), but adult dogs are available and we encourage potential adopters to come out and meet them to fill out an application.
