I will be attending a concert at this venue soon and since there are so many folks on SOWAL from around there I thought I might be able to get an answer here. The question is....what and how strict are the policies on bringing cameras into shows there? The band I am going to see does not mind and even encourages people to take pictures, record the show etc. Many venues/security they have appeared at didnt really mind and wouldnt confiscate your camera or anything but others get very anal about it and alot of folks I know have lost some pretty costly equipment because of it. Some of us will be getting early entrance at a special door (isnt THAT "special"? :rotfl:)and will be the ones most likely to bring cameras. Anyone with info or personal experiences at Gwinnett Center that could give me a heads up as to whether or not to take the good small stuff or just stick with my phone would be greatly appreciated.

I've been to a concert there before. There was security. They didn't seem concerned about cameras. They were looking for alcohol, water, food, etc. They want to make sure you spend your $$$'s on their concessions.

In this day and age, if they are going to ban cameras they'd have to confiscate everyone's cell phone at the door. If the artist you are going to see encourages cameras I would think they'd allow it.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info. I mean this is a band that is giving their music away for free so he has no problems with people recording and sharing concert recordings. (Plus I think he would have had a career in modeling had his music not done so well so he isnt afraid of a camera and can vogue with the best of them)

Are you staying close by? Tons of shopping and restaurants around the arena.

Shopping and restaurants?? Sounds great. My daughter and I will be at this arena in August for a concert and I need to research the area (Duluth?) for ideas and directions on how to get there. Thanks for the heads up----I didn't think about other fun things to do there. We will probably have to spend the night so any ideas are appreciated.

Directions: Take I-85 northbound to the Sugarloaf Parkway exit. Turn left. The Gwinnett Center is about one mile down on the left hand side. Our son had his wedding reception there two years ago. Nice place. There is Gwinnett Place Mall nearby (take Satellite Blvd, south about three miles). Also Discover Mills is close by (Take Sugarloaf Parkway eastbound about two - three miles. It is on the right hand side. Medieval Times is there (theater - jousting, show,) also Jillians (restaurant, games, etc.)

We went to see the Moody Blues there a couple of years ago. No problem with cameras.

Have fun! It's a great area.

Thanks so much Starfish!! We will be coming from Chattanooga on I-75 and I think I can "mapquest" directions over to I-85. Shopping will now be included in the trip.

We are going to see the American Idols tour and my daughter plans to take many pics, so glad the cameras are allowed.

It's the performer's call as to whether or not photos are allowed. Blue Man Group, for one, encourages it as a way of "sticking it to the man!"
