Quick question for the realtors out there, there are a number of homes for sale along Bay Magnolia (just east of 331 on the bay). Curious what the noise level is from the 331 bridge in the backyard for these properties? Is it tolerable?

Have sold and listed many properties over there and never heard that as a complaint.

I have never heard that as a complaint either, but part of it may be that usually there is very little traffic except maybe early morning and 4 p.m....when there is traffic it is so much that it is stopped at a standstill so there is no noise then either!:D

If you're referring to the neighborhood Bay Magnollia- I used to live there- never heard a thing from 331. Just a dog that wouldn't stop barking ;)

We are getting ready to move over there and so far, sitting on the front porch we have really not heard a lot of traffic noise. We were worried about it too. We heard a good beat coming from Senor Mojitos one evening but that is about it. We are more concerned with whether we will be able to get out onto 331 and what is happening with the new apartment complex that is being built there.

This is where we live. Noise from the bridge is not an issue. I think the water acts like a buffer, we love the hood. Quiet, nice people. Getting on to 331 is not a problem. Welcome to the hood bluemtnrunner.

You can hear traffic noise from the bridge from the Bay front homes as the sound carries very well across the water. By the time the sound hits the trees, it is muffled enough that you won't hear it across the street. Like most other noises, you quickly adjust and get use to it, and never even know it's there.

If you are looking at buying, just realize that the 331 bridge will likely be rebuilt and expanded into 4 lanes at some point in the future, and how that might affect that neighborhood, is unknown. They may do a fly-over like the new Hathaway Bridge connecting PC to PCB, and that may elevate the noise projection, making it less, or it may be closer to the neighborhood, making the noise easier to hear. Again, humans quickly adjust to routine noises, and are able to block them out. There is a little town in eastern TN, where the train comes through twice every night about midnight and 4am. Scared the ba-geezers out of me when the whistles blew, both times. I asked locals how they were able to sleep and they said that they never wake up, sleeping right through the loud whistle blowing and echoing through the valley.

Lived there for 4 peaceful years, when the constuction is over it will be that way again but no traffic noise from 331, the bombs from Eglin are the loudist noise there.
