I think some ideas are the result of speculation and things that may never come to pass. As for resorts, we may see one major 5-star, but the requirements for these places (accessibility via international airports, Gulf front property, large numbers of rooms---250 rooms minimum---, and a healthy labor base) simply don't exist and possibly never will. The biggest change for the area will come when the international airport goes in over in Panama City, along with the freeway flyover to Seagrove. The character of 30A is already pretty well established. Increased traffic congestion will occur, because the people working service industry jobs are being priced out of the market, having to drive from further and further away. I think the biggest changes will occur in areas like Freeport and DeFuniak Springs, where gentrification is already occurring. Those are also areas that are sorely in need of some economic upgrading, however. A town shouldn't have to feel proud to have a prison locate there just so there would be some new jobs created...icky.
