Black Rocks

We are staying at Seagrove beach, as we always do. I am curious, what are the black rocks in the ocean,like lava or something. Makes the water turn brownwhen you rub your feet across them. What are they?

I think it's from ancient cypres forests but not sure

Sounds like peat from ancient trees.
