*BURN BAN IN EFFECT *

At yesterday’s Walton County Board of County Commissioners meeting the board voted unanimously to enact a burn ban for all of Walton County.

The ban goes into effect today and will last until weather conditions change and appreciable rainfall occurs in Walton County.

This ban includes beach bonfires and any other “open flame.”.

The only exceptions are authorized burns by Florida Forestry Service or for the cooking of food exclusively in a gas or charcoal grill.

If you had a previously scheduled beach bonfire permit, please contact our office to discuss your options at

BURN BAN LIFTED

The Burn Ban that was in effect for Walton County was lifted this morning at the Walton County Board of County Commissioners Meeting.

As a reminder, all beach bonfires require permitting through SWFD and any yard debris fires or land clearing fires require permitting through the Florida Forest Service.
