And so far for the better. Lots of changes in their packaged goods section- they've now got large Indian and United Kingdom imports section, and the Hispanic foods shelf space has tripled, including a huge selection of sodas with interesting flavors.

Lots of stuff that was previously unavailable in the Panhandle or you could only find at World Market in Pensacola/Panama City. Hopefully turnover is good enough they'll keep reordering some of the new stuff that has potential.

Not sure when/if they'll do the same for the Sandestin and Watercolor store. (Could be signs up announcing it, but we don't grocery shop out thataways)

That sounds great. BTW our daughter has discovered that the dried spices are cheaper and fresher tasting in the Hispanic area than they are in the regular spice area.

I don't think our Publix here in GA will change because they just rearranged all of the aisles. They greatly reduced the Tex-Mex area :dunno:, reduced the canned vegetable area (no more Progresso tomatoes), and don't carry elephant garlic any more. :dunno:

We've ended up getting all of our spices by mail from either Penzey's or The Spice House. Good prices and far better quality than the grocery store stuff.

I have to say I like the small bags of spices at Fresh Market (would love to see Publix do something like that). A friend and I sometimes get small bags of unique spices & divide them between us. We're able to try spices we wouldn't individually invest in, and use them up before they turn to dust.

Having said that... I'm not making a special trip all the way to Destin for spices (or much of anything else).
