On Friday August 4, 2017, The Watersound Origins community, in collaboration with Gulf Coast State College and St Joe Resort Operations will host a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) inspired workshop. This workshop will cover 4 separate stations where attendees will rotate throughout the day.

Register: Creating a Community - A STEM Inspired Workshop


Station 1: Surveying the Site – Land Surveying using Unmanned Vehicle Systems and Drone Technology

Station 2: - Planning Our Community – Plan a phase of future development in the Watersound Origins community with planners and landscape designers

Station 3: - Conceptual Modeling / Design a Housing Prototype for the Watersound Origins Community – Learn 3D residential modeling techniques past to present. Explore the design, building, and printing of models & prototypes using 3D technology. Observe 3D printing in action and learn basic 3D Modeling on laptops.

Station 4: Exploring Our Community – Discover the Fibonacci sequence and rotational symmetry on a nature walk on the Watersound Origins trails. Return to create an artistic, mathematical composition illustrating mathematics found in nature.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
Event is open to 6-12th graders
Lunch will be provided
Stations will take place in air conditioned tents
