So are you saying the root cause may not be Mike Huckabee?

Do you think the root cause might be a 10-fold increase in tourists in the last decade, now at the 4 million number? What happens as that number grows larger and tourists are bussed in and not even paying bed tax in Walton County?

There has not been anyone “kicked off the beach” for swimming, fishing, walking the entire coastline, building sandcastles, or taking family pictures.

The issue has been people putting chairs and umbrellas on private property against the will of the property owner because of overcrowding on Public Beaches due to the exponential increase of tourists. As a result of the tourist increase, the BCC (as of 2016) wants to take absolute and full control of all property from the dune line to the water line, independent of who has a legal deed. Before 2016, if someone was on private property without permission of the property owner (possibly by mistake) and were asked to leave, they left. That has been the Ancient Customary Use in Walton County. There has NEVER been forced occupation of unlimited people and unlimited equipment on Private Property against the will of the Property owner, and in the OPINION OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA there WILL NOT BE WITHOUT JUDICIAL APPROVAL.

So help me out. The county web site lists 9 Regional or County Public Beaches with parking and restroom, 8 of which are on 30A. When was each of them opened?

1. Miramar Beach Regional Beach Access – (when did this open?)
2. Dune Allen Regional Beach Access – (open 2019)
3. Fort Panic Regional Beach Access – (when did this open?)
4. Ed Walline Regional Beach Access – (when did this open?)
5. Gulfview Heights Regional Beach Access – (when did this open?)
6. Blue Mountain Regional Beach Access – (when did this open?)
7. Van Ness Butler Jr. Regional Beach Access – (when did this open?)
8. Santa Clara Regional Beach Access – (when did this open?)
9. Inlet Beach Regional Access – (when did this open?)

We should add the number of parking spaces and the number of restrooms available at each of the 9 public beaches. How many restrooms are needed for 4 million tourists a year so they are not doing as you suggest?

The question is why are some gulf front property lines to the MHWL and some are to the toe of the dune?

The question is why do any deeds include the beach? A mistake that should never have happened and now needs to be corrected. As stated on here by a former government employee, the idea was to keep anyone from building anything on the beach behind a beachfront house and block access or the view. We have state regs for that. If need be we can make it local ordinance also.

If lawyers won't allow deeds to be changed then we need to change the rules and allow public access on every beach in Florida. Any beachfront owner opposed is costing us money and grief and they should stand down. I think most of them are just doing what their lawyers tell them to do which of course keeps the money flowing to lawyers. Ever notice most lawmakers are lawyers? Lawmakers keep their buddies and cousins in business all day every day.

Exactly what our BCC is doing right at this moment....supporting HB6063 so they can reinstate CU and seize private property rights WITHOUT DUE PROCESS.

DUE PROCESS is not an opinion, it is SUPREME LAW guaranteed by the highest level legal document of out great country.

It’s bad enough that.private property owners are having to spend millions of dollars defending their property, but now, CU ACTIVISTS want to also deprive private property owners DUE PROCESS - their ability to defend their private property BEFORE it is seized (not after).

If one owns private property, one’s eyes should be wide open.

What are they afraid of? Dumb question. Answer for the slow:They’re afraid private property owner’s rights will prevail (as I have predicted on SoWal a few times). And afraid that “they” might miss out on a buck or two.
