Teach a Child - Save a Dog!

Dog-Harmony and the Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Coast will be teaming up to bring awareness to dog bite prevention.

4½ million people in the US are bitten by dogs each year and the majority of these victims are children. Most dog bites involving young children happen during everyday activities while interacting with familiar dogs. The majority of these bites are preventable.

We’re getting a head-start on National Dog Bite Prevention Week, which takes place from May 17-23, and staging two presentations. The presentations will be held May 1 & May 8 from 4-5pm at the Boys & Girls Club, 427 Greenway Trail, Santa Rosa Beach. The May 1 presentation will be geared to Kindergarten through 1st-grade, and the May 8 presentation will focus on 2nd-grade participants.

The presentation will be based on “How to Greet a Dog and What to Avoid” materials written by Dr. Sophia Yin, DVM, MS.

We would love for this to become a continuing education program that we can offer to other groups within our community and also garner sponsors to help us promote the cause.
