Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC), a not-for profit professional theatre company, is expanding their after school and weekend programs by opening them up to younger children and extending the number of weeks the classes will last in order to implement more training into the programs. The Spring 2016 program will begin in January and last until April, with dates varying by program.

ECTC will offer three different programs: “The Little Rascals Theatre,” “School House Rock Live! Jr.,” and “Into the Woods, Jr.” that will reach children in Okaloosa, Walton and Bay counties.

“The Little Rascals Theatre” is designed for Pre-K through first graders and focuses on activities that allow energetic exploration of acting, singing, and movement in a nurturing environment.

“School House Rock Live! Jr.” is based on the Emmy® Award-winning educational cartoon series. This program consists of singing, dancing and acting with rehearsals, theatre games and exercises. School House Rock Live! Jr. is open to grades 2-5 in South Walton, Destin, Crestview and Fort Walton. It is open to grades 2-8 in Panama City.

“Into the Woods, Jr.” is an adaptation Sondheim’s popular work bringing together Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and the Witch in this whimsical story designed for young performers. This program will be offered in Destin and is open to grades 4-9.

Emerald Coast Theatre Company is excited to continue its mission of providing theatre art education to Northwest Florida communities, especially their children’s educational programs.

“Educational programs are at the heart of ECTC! We are so excited about working with our location partners to allow children to find creativity and confidence on stage,” said Nathanael Fisher, Producing Artistic Director of ECTC.

The Paul Londe Scholarship and Educational Fund has been established with a generous donation from Sherry Londe. This fund will enable Emerald Coast Theatre Company to offer scholarships to children in Okaloosa, Walton and Bay Counties. For more information on the fund or to partner with ECTC through donations to the fund please visit www.EmeraldCoastTheatre.org.

“This Paul Londe Education and Scholarship Fund will help ECTC offer more opportunities to the family and children of our community,” said Fisher. “Theater arts are so beneficial, and this fund will provide for deserving children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience theatre arts education.”

Emerald Coast Theatre Company's mission is to enrich and entertain the Emerald Coast community through professional and educational theater. ECTC operates year-round with a two-fold mission to provide both educational and professional offerings to the Northwest Florida community. Educational outreach includes after school and home-school programs, touring and staged productions, summer camps, workshops and classes. The professional theater efforts are focused on family-oriented productions, festivals and collaborations as well as acting and improv workshops and classes for adults.
