Join Anne Hunter Galleries in Seaside, FL on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 6PM to 8PM to meet Cody Copland, presenting his Empathy & Color Series. The opening is hosted by Amavida Coffee and Anne Hunter Galleries in conjunction with the Seaside First Friday Art Walk. The exhibition will run from July 1 - September 30.

The inspiration for the current collection, called Empathy & Color, materialized while Copeland resided in the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco and made frequent trips to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. It was there that the painter became enamored with the art of the Bauhaus art movement of the early 1900’s, drawing inspiration from artists like Hilma af Klint and Paul Klee. The artist is originally from Freeport, Florida, and currently resides in Pensacola where he continues to produce music and create art. codycopeland.com

Cody Copeland aims “to give presence to the intangible,” he says, describing the practice of expressing his feelings such as empathy, security, self-sufficiency, and joy through an abbreviated visual vocabulary. As an established singer-songwriter, storytelling comes naturally for the multifaceted artist. “The expression of lyrics and poetry are a simplified way of communicating a complex concept,” he explains, “It is now my ambition to use this process of simplification as a painter, using primary shapes and an expressive color palette.”
