In this three-day workshop scheduled for Tuesday, October 16 - Thursday, October 18, Mary will emphasis how to STUDY and gain the most information from your time spent plein air painting. The emphasis will not not be on "Making Paintings" but on the art of study. She will demonstrate small quick studies first in monochromatic-3 values and then 5 values to get an abstract design. Then she will move onto color studies.

All four of these will be done on a 12x16 canvas taped into 4 equal parts. The subject matter will be our local coastal dunes, water (both still and moving), water reflections, clouds and the anatomy of the sky. Mary will edit down to only the essential elements needed to take these studies back to the studio to make a painting. Plein air is where she gets excited and generates ideas. The studio is where Mary makes her paintings.

Workshop is 8 AM - 2 PM, daily. Early bird registration is available at $400 through September 15, 2018. Beginning September 16, registration will increase to $450.
