Join Food For Thought Outreach's fight against hunger by becoming a Member! Click here to sign up or attend our Membership Party on Thursday, May 19th at 6:00PM at our Santa Rosa Beach Pantry to receive more info!

Supporters of local nonprofit, Food For Thought Outreach, now have a new way to give back to those in need. Food For Thought has introduced their Annual Membership program for 2016-2017. For a contribution of just $90 a year, individuals can now join the fight against child hunger in a direct way.

The organization will host their first Membership Party on May 19th, starting at 6:00pm at their Santa Rosa Beach Pantry off Hwy 393 North. New members will be able to purchase their membership at the Party or online at fftfl.org prior to the event. Members will receive their Advocate Packets and learn more about how their contribution directly affects students in our area, how they can volunteer, and more!

Guests will be treated to a Peanut Butter & Jelly Bar hosted by Chef Shane’s Gourmet Take Away where they will receive to-order PB&J sandwiches and “Pantry-Style” food. Local favorite, Grayton Beer Company, will also be at the Membership Party serving some of their most popular brews.

“We are excited to start this new program and way of giving in our community. For less than what it costs for the average person to go out to lunch, to buy a single movie ticket, or two lattes, someone in our community can make a difference in the life of a local student. For $7.50 a month, a child will now have access to easy-to-prepare, nutritional snacks and meals to bridge the gap from the lunch they receive Friday until breakfast Monday morning,” says Founder and Executive Director, Tiffanie Nelson.

Moving into its sixth year, Food For Thought Outreach started by providing 6 Walton County students with weekly backpacks and now has grown to serving 1,200 students from Freeport to Fort Walton Beach across 16 schools and 2 counties. Over 1,000,000 food items will be distributed this school year and the organization only expects to grow in the coming years. Over 30,000 individuals are deemed food insecure in Walton and Okaloosa counties and Food For Thought wants to ensure they never have to turn away a family, a student, a school in need.

“These funds will go directly into purchasing food each month. Becoming a Member of Food For Thought Outreach is one of the most direct ways to impact our local kids in need,” adds Nelson.
