Tonight( Wednesday) deputies stopped and detained 2 teenage girls- one each in a cart- driving down 30A , chasing and going side by side while fighting over a boy. Both were detained until parents arrived, then turned over to parents.. Do not know what further action was taken.

I have seen more than enough younger teens driving the carts on 30A, overloaded with friends, having fun (I get it) but at what cost? I have also seen too many very tiny kids, unrestrained. My favorite is when the parents put the 2 year old on the back facing seat, by her/him self, unrestrained.

My favorite is when they let their 8-year-old drive. Oh, and the solution to not being able to drive on the road in th 45 mph section near Watersound is just drive them on the bike path too. They almost hit a little boy on a bike with training wheels.

I wonder if anything was done to the parents who let these girls drive and did they have drivers licenses?

Just yesterday I saw a golf cart on 30A with a mom and her 4-5 year old sitting right nest to her and he was steering the golf cart. I hope we don't have a tragedy involving golf carts this year; they are accidents waithing to happen. They are constantly on the bike path on the way to Publix.
My question is: parents are so careful to put their little ones in a car seat/booster seat in automobiles, yet they ride with infants and toddlers on their laps in a golf cart on our roads. Go figure!!!

Funny enough, I was the one behind these girls last night. I made them pull the cart over. They were in one cart, not two and were literally beating each other in the face while driving and trying to push one another out of the car. They were swerving all over the road, into traffic, and then all the way across the sidewalk and almost into a tree. When they finally stopped we pulled up behind them and my husband walked over to them and took the key out of the ignition, which probably saved their lives. There was a bottle of Vodka right there in the front dash. They were covered in blood. The passenger ran away and then driver got into a suburban with some ladies who said they didn't know her but would take her back to her parents (yeah right). My husband found the passenger hiding and escorted her to the officer when he arrived. We dropped our friend off and when we drove back by the cart was no where to be seen. It looked as if the officer had let her go. I sure hope not. If they had continued to drive they could have been killed. I have never seen two young girls do that to each other. Truly disgusting. The parents should be ashamed.

As an outside, but a visitor, it sounds as if the use of golf carts needs to reined in because they are misused. (Americans have too much freedom....that's another discussion.) I think they only be used a means to transport a family through the development they live in/staying in and/or to the beach access nearest their development. At Watercolor, they would pull into the parking area across the street from the public beach access next to Seaside.
People seem to think just because it can be done, that gives them license to do it. Again, too much freedom.
If it were a perfect world, perhaps, 30A would have a bike trail, a golf cart trail, and a road but that doesn't exist yet, so the most recent addition - the golf cart should have to go - or its use minimized.
Just about everything wrong is caused by people. Selfish people. Not happy about it:-(
