Summertime in South Walton means fun and sun. Enjoying every bit of beach time is what it's all about and we love to grab a bite and head for the sand. So suit up, grab your beach bag, and let someone else worry about lunch. Our latest SoWal List is for Lunches on the GO!

Modica Market
Modica Market has been serving up fresh homemade goodness in Seaside since 1988. Locals and visitors return for the daily made deli items like chicken salad, orzo salad and couscous. Go for a relaxing lunch and order one of the delectable crabcakes or grilled chicken breasts with an order of scalloped potatoes. They offer many organic items along with unique, gourmet dry goods (think 50 different kinds of hot sauce) and have now bottled their own brand of cream soda. I suggest going early afternoon to avoid the crowds or around happy hour when they pour up giant-sized draft beers and mimosas at a great price.

Chesnut's at the Grayton General Store
Chesnut’s serves up daily lunch specials like chicken enchiladas, pulled pork BBQ sandwiches and Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwiches. Or get a made-to-order sandwich with one of the many freshly made sides like cucumber salad or pasta salad. The deviled eggs are a local favorite, along with the chicken salad and pimiento cheese. For something sweet, try the strawberry cheesecake pudding topped with strawberry moon pies. On the way, out be sure to grab a pint of Chesnut's famous pimento cheese or potato salad for later.

Cowgirl Kitchen
Cowgirl Kitchen now serves SoWal with four locations, each having a unique menu. If you are in the Seagrove area, pick up an order of the Cowgirl Salsa and tortilla chips and a Beach Meet West Shrimp Roll. They also offer entrees to go like Mexican Lasagna and King Ranch Chicken. The CK Feed & Supply location in Rosemary Beach is stocked with fine wines, craft beers, artisanal cheeses and gourmet casseroles to go. Stop by to get everything you need for the perfect picnic in paradise. Cowgirl Kitchen Restaurant and Bar is also located in Rosemary Beach, and in Watersound Beach is the CK Dunesider Pool Grille.

Sally’s by the Sea Store

Sally’s in Blue Mountain Beach might only look like a gas station but behind closed doors they offer daily lunch specials and freshly made deli salads. Pints of chicken salad and pimento cheese are available along with carving board cut turkey and ham sandwiches. Call ahead for to go and head right back to the beach!

La Loba’s Bakery
La Loba’s serves an all-natural, all-organic menu in a vegetarian’s paradise. Order a slice of spinach, tomato and feta pie with a side of steamed veggies or rice, and an oatmeal raisin cookie for dessert. For the perfect fresh picnic, grab an Asiago roll on your way out, then pick up some organic cheese and fruit next door at For the Health of It.

We are always looking for the fastest way to get our feet in the sand. We hope this SoWal List showed you where to go to get there faster and soak up some Florida sunshine. Be sure to check out the SoWal Dining Guide and SoWal Dining Forum for many more awesome restaurants. Let us know where you go for lunch on the go.
