Walton County spokesman Louis Svehla confirmed Tuesday that a woman who was shot to death Saturday in Holmes County and her seriously wounded husband were the parents of Dede Hinote, Walton’s deputy county administrator for administration.
Jacqulyn Brooks died of a gunshot wound to the head. Sheley Glenn Brooks was taken to a Bay County hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Svehla said the Walton officials are mourning with Hinote in the wake of the tragedy.
“While this has happened to one of our own, we obviously consider ourselves a family. Dede will have any and all of the support we can offer her. It’s a sad time for all of us,” he said.
WZEP Reported; The second victim involved in a weekend shooting in Holmes County has died.
WZEP Radio says the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office confirms Sheley Glenn Brooks has passed away. His wife, Jacqulyn Brooks, died at the scene Saturday night when someone, shot both him and his wife in the head.
(A suspect, Joshua Brandyn Gaskey, of Pensacola, FL was identified and located in Escambia County, Fl. Gaskey is being charged with an open count of murder.)
