Leave No Trace Beach Items Being Removed Nightly
As of June 20, 2015, personal articles left on the beach in South Walton one hour after sunset are being removed before one hour after sunrise. Only a few days into the enforcement of the Ordinance 2013-04 Section 22-54(g) for “Obstructions on the Beach”, also referred to commonly as Leave No Trace, more than 10 truckloads have been removed from the beach.
Property that has been removed from South Walton beaches in accordance with Leave No Trace and is not in a state of disrepair, will be stored briefly at Visit South Walton’s Maintenance Facility located at 924 Highway 83, Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
Property might be retrieved Monday-Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Owners seeking to claim items will be required to provide identification and complete a property release form. Please direct any questions to Visit South Walton Beach Operations at 850-267-4578.
