Commissioner Sara Comander asked to look into how to collect bed tax north of the bay. She said the expansion of 331 will bring in businesses, including hotels and restaurants. She also said there are events and destinations north of the Bay. Comander asked for suggestions such as expanding the TDC or creating another unit. She said she has be in contact with DeFuniak Springs and Freeport.
Commissioner Cindy Meadows suggested privatizing the TDC. She said this would allow for more than one TDC and make it less political.
She told the commissioners this has been done elsewhere. Comander agreed. Meadows also agreed to a suggestion to lower the bed tax.
