Anyone ever been to see the Nutcracker? The MB is going to be in Dallas in a couple of weeks. I'm ashamed to admit that I've never been to the ballet--well, except for when I took ballet when I was 6-14:roll: Anyway, I'm thinking I want to expand my horizons. Thoughts?

by all means go. It is fantastic. I took my 4 year old to see it in NYC--he still speaks of the wonder of it today...and he is 30! I believe the Russian Ballet will be here in Panama City this Christmas again

Love the Nutcracker!

DD, you will love love love the Nutcracker. My father took my brother and sister and me to see it in NYC Lincoln Center when I was just eight years old and I've never forgotten it. It was magical. The music, the story, the costumes, oh, it's the whole kit and kaboodle. Listen to the music before you go and you'll be amazed at how many of the tunes you already know--now you have the chance to see the story behind them all.

The first ballet that I ever saw happened to be the Houston Ballet (for a little Texas plug). While not an expert, as I am highly dependent on the program notes, I have attended many ballets since then. I also had the privileges of seeing Baryshnikov and Nureyev while they were still dancing.

I would go if I were you. In fact, MB is going to be in Panama City December 20th, so you could get both the beach and ballet experience.

Oh definitely go! We attend every year in Chicago. The ballet is beautiful but we adore the music especially. Once you get past the cutesy familiar pieces, the remainder of the suite is outstanding. Bring a hanky for the Pas de Deux. Seriously. Beautiful beyond description. My son still loves this ballet and music, even at 17.

.

It's amazing, but Baryshnikov still is an active dancer and he is almost 60 years old. I have seen him in person since he lives fairly close to me and I frequent his Village often. I believe he may have performed last summer with his dance group Hells Kitchen Dance.

DD, The Nutcracker is a wonderful holiday ballet that everyone should see at least once. Take the plunge.
