Did you know that approximately 60,000 emergency department visits annually result from children under 6 finding and ingesting medication?

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. According to the 2017 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day will be Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Walton County Sheriff's Office or DeFuniak Springs Police Department one of the locations below:

WCSO North: 752 Triple G Road, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433
WCSO South: 133 Sheriff Drive, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459
DFSPD: 355 U.S. Highway 90 East, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433

National Take-Back Day is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

If you have any unused prescriptions in your home, please stop by this Saturday and drop them off. And tell your neighbors!
