We've already been contacted by two people asking if we were interested in selling our place in the FQ - both were NO real estate agents. Probably some good short-term gains possible. Who knows about long-term. Nice rental property should be a good investment, say in the Marigny, FQ, CBD.

Rents tripled in Charleston after Hugo.

I bet that if Panama City Beach was wiped out from a hurricane, we would see property values skyrocket in that area. Of course, they may have to change the name to something else.

Pensacola got a big spike in both rental and purchase prices after Ivan. When you've got a huge amount of damaged housing stock, and people who now need a new place to live, you get big price increases for the undamaged or reasonably salvageable.

Home prices in Baton Rouge have surged about 20% in the last two weeks. we have about 200-250K displaced New Orleanian's with many trying to find housing. I doubt it will last.
