We (the Lake Powell Community Alliance) were conducting our monthly Bird Species Survey at Camp Helen State Park. It was 6:30 am on Saturday. I always carry a long lens to document our survey and to record any rare birds that we might see. Have watched the otters on the lake for over twenty years. Last year we had a family of four on the western end. This sighting was not surprising to me, but the post comments prove that many folks are not aware of our wildlife diversity. I'll be posting more photos today on the Lake Powell page.

Great shot Emily - thanks for sharing. No doubt he was looking for love this time of year (or breakfast)... I spied 2 otters wrestling in the creek behind my house last week at dawn. And by wrestling I mean getting busy. Quite a show. I let them have their privacy and took no photos.
