Panama City Beach City Council voted today, following the Bay County Board of County Commissioners decision earlier this week, to reopen its beaches, beginning Friday, April 24 from 6-9 a.m. and 5-8 p.m. daily for recreational purposes.
This limited reopening is specifically designed to allow residents the ability to access the beaches; however, beach commerce, such as chair, jet ski and parasail rentals are prohibited at this time. Social distancing protocols will be enforced, including maintaining group size to under 10 individuals and having a six-foot separation between groups. For more information regarding protections while visiting beaches, visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/visitors.html.
In conjunction with the beaches reopening, Visit Panama City Beach will be launching its new “PCB Through Our Eyes” experience, providing real PCB images and virtual video via social media. Residents and visitors can follow along Visit Panama City Beach’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for these real-time glimpses of the beach.
“We know residents are eager to step back on the sand and breathe in the fresh, Gulf breeze,” says President and CEO of Visit Panama City Beach Dan Rowe. “As part of the PCB Through Our Eyes experience, our team will be stationed throughout the beach on Friday to capture and share this limited reopening, and we look forward to seeing our community back on the beach and slowly but surely return to normalcy.”
