Registration is now open for the South Walton Seahawks’ fall 2019 youth football and cheer season. The Seahawks cheer and tackle football programs are open to youth ages 5 to 12. Registration will close July 15 and games will begin in August.
“We are excited to open registration for our 2019 season,” said Ashley Bishop, South Walton Youth Football and Cheer Board President. “The Seahawks cheer and football programs are continuing to grow, and we love introducing more kids to the sport.”
Participants can be registered online at www.southwaltonfootball.com. Parents should have a copy of their child’s birth certificate as well as a recent photo available upon registration. It is recommended to register on a computer rather than a handheld device. The cost to participate is $135 for the season. Football registration fees include the gameday jersey and mouthpiece. Cheer registration fees include the game day cheer uniform, bows and pom-poms. Cheerleaders and football players will be divided into the following age groups: Boomers (5-6 year olds); Peewees (7-8 year olds); Juniors (9-10 year olds); and Seniors (11-12 year olds).
Those interested in learning more about the programs or refining their skills before the fall season, are encouraged to register for the Seahawks Youth Football & Cheer Summer Camp scheduled for July 18-20 at Helen McCall Park. The cost to participate is $35 and includes a t-shirt and hands-on instruction. The Summer Camp is open to returning or prospective players. Registration is available online at www.southwaltonfootball.com.
South Walton Youth Football Association (SWYFA) is a competitive sports program for football and cheer for youth ages 5-14. The program currently offers Cheerleading and Football and is affiliated with the Panhandle Youth Football Association (PYFA). Other teams in the league include Crestview, Destin, Hammock Bay, Lynn Haven, Walton, Niceville, Panama City, and Shalimar.
