The 2017 Sacred Heart Charity Golf Classic is set for Sunday, May 7, and Monday, May 8, 2017. Proceeds from this year’s event will support Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast’s Emergency Department expansion.

The two-day event will kick off with the Charity Golf Classic Spring Bash on Sunday evening at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa. This year’s party will not disappoint with a Kentucky Derby theme and will include live music, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a live and silent auction. The golf tournament will tee off on Monday at Emerald Bay Golf and Beach Club in Destin. As in previous years, the tournament will feature local golf pros competing against one another while also playing with the registered foursomes. This format ups the competition and excitement, while enabling players to interact with local pros.

The Sacred Heart Charity Golf Classic has become the signature fundraising event for Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. Since its inception in 2002, the annual golf classic has raised more than $3 million for the hospital, ensuring access to high-quality healthcare close to home.

The Charity Classic demonstrates a true team effort among strategic partners, such as Master Sponsors Howard Group, Howard Hospitality, Grand Boulevard Town Center, and Silver Sands Premium Outlets. A special thanks to other presenting sponsors Emerald Bay Golf and Beach Club, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa, Wind Creek, St. Joe Foundation, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, and Proffitt PR. The event is organized by a local planning committee with help from more than 100 dedicated volunteers. The tournament chair this year is Bill Lavery.

The tournament has supported a variety of areas at the hospital over the years, including the surgery department, imaging services, Olson Women’s Diagnostic Center, Family Birth Place, ICU, preoperative nurse station, the Judy & Steve Turner Heart and Vascular Center and the Cancer Center. This year’s fundraising will benefit the Emergency Department expansion that includes the much-needed addition of 13 new patient rooms. More than 33,000 patients were served there last year.
