UPDATE: South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival 2020

Official Statement to Cancel Event

March 13, 2020

Dear Valued Festival Stakeholder:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival. This is not a decision we made lightly, yet in light of the national and state recommendations to not hold large-scale events, we are following their directives.

At this time, we do not have a specific issue with the COVID-19 virus in our area, however; we believe the prudent choice is to not hold our festival – which attracts more than 5,000 – out of an abundance of caution.

Our sister event and the recipient of our festival proceeds, Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, has postponed their immensely popular auction until Aug. 22. This is GREAT news since their auction fundraising is critical to support 16 charities in NW Florida. Their event takes place in a huge air-conditioned tent that is very comfortable. Unfortunately, the significant heat and humidity we get here at the beach in August is not conducive to an outdoor wine event.

EVENT INFO
South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival returns April 23 – April 26, 2020 in Grand Boulevard in South Walton, Florida. With more than 600 quality wines to taste over four days, this annual award-winning charity event delivers a wine experience unparalleled among Northwest Florida wine festivals. Tickets can be purchased at www.SoWalWine.com.

Presented by Grand Boulevard at Sandestin and Visit South Walton, the festival offers the ideal backdrop for wine, charity and fun along the South Walton beaches, named among the best beaches in the country. In addition to the vast selection of wines from around the world, the festival is known for hosting nationally and internationally well-known wine celebrities and 2020 is no exception. Alessia Antinori of Marchesi Antinori, the most famously iconic winemaking family in history, will pour her family’s highly prized Italian wines which will be paired with an exclusive menu of authentic Italian dishes in Culinary Village.

“The 2020 festival is all about the experience. By bringing in Alessia Antinori, whose wine company has been making wine for over 630 years, it will be like bringing Italy to South Walton. You can’t go anywhere in the world and get this experience and proximity to wine royalty. Additionally, wineries of Jackson Family Wines will present wines from around the world, making this an experience you can’t find anywhere else,” said Chan Cox, festival founder and owner of Wine World.

Jackson Family Wine World will be featured at the festival and also present in-depth tasting seminars. Expect to taste their Chardonnays, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Viogniers from California and “big reds” including Cabernet Sauvignons, French Bordeaux, Italian Super Tuscans, Australian Shiraz and more.

Nosh Pavilions are located throughout the festival as are Spirits Row offerings. Ongoing live entertainment rounds out the Grand Tasting offerings.

The festival kicks off Thursday at 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. with Winemakers & Shakers, held at Wine World in Destin. The VIP Wine Tasting now takes place Friday, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., followed by the Friday Craft Beer & Spirits Jam, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. The Grand Tastings are Saturday and Sunday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. The VIP Tasting can only be attended by purchasing the VIP Wine Festival 3-Day Package that includes most festival events as well.

The South Walton Beaches Wine and Food Festival is truly a celebration of wine, food and music that everyone can feel good about. This event is a major fundraiser for the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation with proceeds benefiting more than a dozen children’s charities in Northwest Florida.

South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival is made possible by the generous support of the following Founding Partners: Visit South Walton Tourist Development Council, Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association, Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa, Wine World of Northwest Florida and Grand Boulevard at Sandestin®. We are currently working with our ticket agency on refund messaging. We are planning a great incentive to induce ticket holders to keep their tickets whic

We are disappointed, too! We are also very grateful to our long-time attendees, distributors, suppliers, vendors and especially our sponsors and founding partners. We will be contacting sponsors and ticket holders shortly with options.

A very special thank you to our very sad festival staff who are actually the best staff in the world!

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to presenting a fabulous charity wine festival for 2021.
