Job Description: The South Walton Fire District is currently seeking applicants for the
position of full time Fire/Life Safety Inspector. Duties will include the ability to plan,
organize, coordinate and administer all activities related to fire inspection activities.
Respond to general correspondence, telephone inquiries, and requests to inspect.
Individual shall participate in all aspects of fire prevention/ life safety to include public
education.

This position reports directly to the SWFD Fire Marshal.
Requirements and Qualifications: SWFD is looking for a self-motivated individual that
requires limited supervision and can interpret and apply fire codes as they pertain to the
fire inspection.

Qualified candidates must possess the following:
• Minimum of 18 years of age.
• High School graduate or equivalent diploma required.
• Florida State Fire Safety Inspector I certification
• Must have a valid Florida Driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to climb stairs, ladders and work outdoors in all types of weather.

The South Walton Fire District (SWFD) is a professional fire/rescue agency located in
the premier beach community of the Florida panhandle. Nestled in the southern portion
of Walton County with 26 miles of beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, our District
maintains 5 fire stations and is responsible for the Fire Protection, Emergency Medical
Services Transport, Beach Lifeguards, Hazardous Material Mitigation and Public
Education and Prevention activities for 84 square miles. Our population ranges from
20,000 to over 100,000 depending on our tourist season.
