Stinky’s Fall Fishing Tournament Returns for 12th Year with Popular Pompano Category

Stinky’s Bait Shack is excited to announce the return of its Fall Pompano Beach to Bay Grand Slam Fishing Tournament for the 11th consecutive year, taking place from September 28 to October 27, 2024. Following the successful introduction of pompano last year, this beloved species is making a comeback, solidifying its place as a key part of the tournament.

The inclusion of pompano in 2023 was a game-changer, drawing even more anglers to the competition. Building on that success, the tournament will once again require participants to include a speckled trout in their three-fish aggregate, ensuring the Choctawhatchee Bay remains central to the experience. This year's anglers will vie for the best combined weight of trout, redfish, whiting, and pompano, promising a thrilling and competitive event for all skill levels.

“Our team is committed to hosting Walton County’s premier fishing events, and the addition of pompano has been a fantastic enhancement,” said Chef Jim Richard, the tournament’s originator and owner of Stinky’s Fish Camp. “We’re proud to offer an experience that challenges both seasoned pros and enthusiastic amateurs, all while celebrating our community’s natural resources.”

The 2023 tournament awarded over $4500 in cash and prizes, a purse made possible by the support of generous sponsors. This year, with the continued excitement surrounding the pompano category and the tournament's 11th anniversary, the prize pool is expected to be even larger. “Our sponsors are essential to the growth and success of this event,” Richard added. “As the tournament evolves, so does our commitment to offering substantial rewards for our participants.”
