[h=2]Extend the 4th of July Fun with Bob Marley's Guitarist on Jamaican Reggae Cruise[/h]
SunQuest Cruises is honored to host Marvin Junior, legendary guitarist from Bob Marley’s The Wailers band, for an amazing Summer Sunset Raggae Cruise on Monday, July 7th from 7 to 10 p.m. As part of a Florida tour with Boukou Groove, Marvin Junior will perform a high-energy show that captivates rock, blues and ragge enthusiasts. Guests will cruise into the sunset on the 125 foot SOLARIS yacht while jammin’ to this incredible concert and enjoying flavorful Jamaican foods including Curry Chicken, Jerk Pork and Pineapple Shrimp Kabobs.

“It’s not everyday you get to hear authentic reggae music from one of Bob Marley’s guitarist. This is a once in a lifetime experience as we take Marvin Junior’s music to the water and enjoy Jamaican cuisines, ” stated James Murray, General Manager for SunQuest Cruises.

Born in Jamaica, Junior Marvin’s love for music began with an appearance in the Beatles’ film “Help”, as well as musical apprenticeships with Ike & Tina Turner. After quickly earning a reputation as an innovative and expressive blues/rock guitarist, Junior formed his own rock band “Hanson” and produced several successful albums.

On February 14, 1977, Junior was invited to join both Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley & The Wailers. Junior chose Bob Marley because of their common Jamaican roots. Island Records sought out Junior to globalize the sound of Marley’s Wailers band to give it that rock sound and hook to create an appeal to people all over the world.

During this time, Junior Marvin worked closely with electrical engineer and inventor, Roger Mayer, who helped Jimi Hendrix develop his guitar sound. Junior Marvin’s guitar playing is on such songs as Jammin’, Could You Be Loved and Exodus, just to name a few. “Exodus” was Junior’s first album with Marley & The Wailers and it was voted “Best Album of the 20th Century” by Time Magazine. He is on all of Bob Marley and The Wailers albums/CDs since that time.

Since Marley’s passing in 1981, Junior has released four CDs with The Wailers continuing on the message and music Bob Marley asked him to do. He was lead guitarist and vocalist of The Wailers until 2011. Since then, Junior Marvin has actively been performing dynamic and virtuoso shows all over America and the world. He has also released three albums and appeared in the movie “Marley” about Bob’s life. Junior is currently working on a brand new EP with his band, Junior Marvin’s Force One, which will be released later this year.

Local phenomenon Boukou Groove will open the show with New Orleans-style Funk, R & B, Soul and Blues music. Founded on the stage of Tipitinas in New Orleans in 2010, Boukou Groove is the brainchild of singer/producer Donnie Sundal and New Orleans guitar luminary Derwin “Big D” Perkins.

The SOLARIS Summer Sunset Raggae Cruise, including a three-hour cruise, concert and a Jamaican-themed dinner, is $100 per person. Boarding begins at 6 p.m. with the cruise from 7 – 10 p.m. Limited tickets available. Reservations required online at www.SunQuestCruises.com or call 850.650.2519.
