Thai Chiang Rai restaurant is now open in the former Christiano's location on Hwy 98 in Santa Rosa Beach. Open at 5pm during this weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Then open for lunch and dinner starting next week (Monday).

The menu looks great! A friend's recent review sounded like a very special experience! Can't wait...

I no longer stay in Dune Allen
Please report back.

Superbly done food. Impeccable presentation. Too many Farangs at the start but all well meaning. Farang 1 opened the door, farang 2 sat us, farang 3 checked on us and made small talk, farang 4 took our order. All very pleasant but kind of like a scene in a movie that stops your ability to suspend disbelief. A little jarring maybe. Finally two persons who are native to the cuisine appeared and I felt reassured.

Tom kha gai was as good as I have had, maybe the best outside of my own kitchen. So good that I forgot to ask for some nam pla prik with which to spike the soup.

Chicken Satay were what I had hoped for with a fragrant peanut sauce of perfect consistency.

Delicious summer rolls expertly assembled. Loved the bit of mint

Excellent sliced beef salad

Very good dumplings and, though not authentically a Thai dish, fantastic crab Rangoon. Well prepared food doesn’t need to follow rigid rules.

best Thai I’ve had here on the items I ordered for the most part. Dumplings at Thai elephant are better though, those things are fantastic. I’ll try pad Thai next time as that’s the usual measuring stick.

p.s. the palate cleansing sweet, vinegar, cuke stuff was done very differently to anything I’d experienced before. It was delicious and I could have drank a cup of it.

it’s a big place, help them keep it filled. Very reasonably priced for the area imo

We went last night. Somehow felt like we were cheating on Thai Elephant! They've been our go to for years. I think there's plenty of demand for both places. The crab fried rice was excellent (dinner special) and the hubby got the som tum/chicken quarter dinner special. Som tum (papaya salad) is one of my very favorite dishes and it was perfect, just perfect. Highly recommend this place. (But Thai Elephant, we still looooove you:wave:)

Loved the crab fried rice! We picked up several items to go and all delicious. Can't wait to dine in the nice big restaurant.

Yes Thai Elephant will always hold a special place for us. And a few other Thai places we love to visit in the area as well. We are fortunate to have several good places to enjoy. Two of my top choices: Real Thai in Miramar Beach (original Royal Orchid where we dined for many years) and Oishi in PCB. We've also enjoyed takeout at Siam Thai next to SW Publix.
