You can be assured that J.W. was left shaken and curious. Perhaps, he really was losing his mind. After all, he had been overly stressed because he had been struggling so hard just to survive. Perhaps he was feeling a little like a ghost himself, visible but not really there. But, the thought of his ephemeral existence had, only just now, become apparent. However, he would be greatly embarrassed if his friends unearthed this sense of vulnerability. Horrified, they may see beyond his fa?ade. So he began a journey to uncover some fact which might justify his sanity.

With that in mind, J.W. reluctantly began to share the disconcerting episode. It wasn?t long before some chilling news shed some light on the visitation. According to local legend, there was a man, who decades before, had been castaway from a shipwreck, brutally driven to the beach by an 1800?s hurricane. As the only survivor, he was left stranded with no way home to his family in England. Somehow, he managed to glean enough material from the wreck to construct a small shelter on the lake. And among the wreckage, strewn on the beach, he found some hard tack and several barrels of rum. And so he sat daily, searching the horizon for a sail, but it was all in vain. The days were passed with repetitious waves of emerald water lapping before him. The gnawing of loneliness began to take its toll and so he entertained himself with bonfires and rum. He reflected on his home and the delicate beauty of the betrothed. Why had he ever left her side? Finally, winter came and one cold night he passed away, from hunger, boredom and relentless elements.

Legend also revealed that this was not the first appearance of the wandering and mischievous Stinky. That previous accounts of his dastardly presence had been told by local fisherman who claim nets full of fish would be trodden down and catches released right before their eyes. Then, a taunting ghost would suddenly appear out of a damp fog and disrupt their labor with jeers, laughter and outright insults. And, of course, there was the accompanying smell.

What J.W. did not know, was that even though the apparition had taken a liking to the carpenter, he was not done with future plans of torment. Furthermore, Stinky had been actively shadowing the chefs and staff involved in the frenzied effort to open the restaurant. Now, this unsettling activity was not acceptable to the roving, entrenched joker. He was stewing on plans of disruption, because he was driven by a need to control what he could not. Plus, he felt it was his duty to put these impudent invaders in their place. He would show them and they would all come to a revelation. He was especially annoyed by Chez Brandon. Otherwise known as Janca, which he surmised was some sort of self complimentary alias. One of those Mississippi splash Cajun types with a typical bubbling demeanor, indicative of his heritage. How could anyone in their right mind always be so cheerful? Stinky was disgusted with the presence of someone who was always strutting around, signing, laughing and continuously encouraging his peers. So, the Ghost of Lake Place focused his devious eye and began to plot one of the unexplainable ?bad days? for the unsuspecting victim.
Until next time...

Ol' Stinky must not have been much of a fisherman. He had a gulf full in front of him and a lake full behind him and all he had to eat was hard tack? Or maybe he was "Stinky The Drunk" and the rum kept his hook out of the water? Did he only know how to use a net? And I really don't buy that he was miserable being stranded on the world's most beautiful beaches. Or were they not, before the TDC came along?
