Daily check of beach cams....glad we don't vacation at this spot:)

We were fortunate, first time to visit in the month of May, there was only 1 row of people. Will see what first time visit in September will look like.

Certain beaches along the Emerald Coast are completely packed in July, from PCB to Destin. Some people like the energy and crowds, the action... I don't go to the beach in July. Except an occasional sunset. Schools start earlier and earlier so relief starts in August. But by October, everything is perfect again.

I've never seen as many people on BMB as there are today. And its not even a holiday week.

And the TDC just keeps the marketing spigot open full blast.

Hopefully, this will somewhat self correct: some guests will see the overcrowding, the lack of infrastructure (adequate roads, proper road signage), the out of control chair vendors, and just go somewhere else in the future. How does this provide for a relaxing vacation?

I've been going to the South Walton Beaches on and off for the last 20 years or so. I had begun to notice some of the items people are complaining about in this and other threads for the last 5 or 6 years. Now, I am returning for the first time in 3 years for a September vacation. I sure hope I find the old Florida beach town feeling and beautiful water and beaches that I remember. Good luck to South Walton and to all of us vacationers as these growing pains are dealt with and hopefully overcome.

You should be fine in Sept. Unless you're coming in labor day weekend! Lol.

Be careful in Sept. There is a week break from school here in Northwest GA. I'd wait til Oct.

November is even better. October is busy with events and everyone knows it's one of the most beautiful times of the year here.

Aren't those of us who chose to do so, the most fortunate people in the world to live here year around?

I haven't been there before but am planning a future visit. In the picture it looks like water on both sides of the beach area. Am I seeing it correctly?

That is the inlet (sometimes called the outflow) of Western Lake, in Grayton Beach. All the lakes have something similar: a channel of water connecting them, sometimes, to the Gulf. You will like it.

We love being in SoWal mid-late August. Ocean and pool like bathwater, no crowds yet all the benefits of SoWal. This will be the first year we'll spend more time in SoWal in Jan/Feb. It won't be as warm, but it will be a LOT warmer than Michigan.
