No, I said that people that strap bombs to their chest are animals. I'll stand by that. If you can find a place where I said a country, religion or race are animals, please share.

Post #118, in the Us War -Five Years On thread. Of course you used the term savages, but I don?t think the message is lost on anyone.

"The Sauds are best when the Sunnis and Shiites are killing each other, as the savages in that region are wont to do." -6thGen

Given the arrogance with which you have conducted yourself on the board so far, I would hardly expect you to admit that you were wrong- however the fact that you are now revising your opinion to only labeling "those who strap bombs to their chest" as animals is a substantial reversal. Congrats -I see that you have the capacity to grow and learn, and all the kicking you around has been good for something.

Chickpea,

You may be interested in the following article from The Economist

Economist, May 26
The cover article commemorates the 40th anniversary of Israel's Six-Day War. In light of continuing violence in the Middle East, it "has come to look like one of history's pyrrhic victories." The Jewish state's triumph over neighboring Arab forces left Israelis "intoxicated by victory and the Arabs paralysed by humiliation." The subsequent land grab gave rise to today's conflict, "feeding poison into the wounded relations between Islam and the West as a whole." The article argues, "Israel must give up the West Bank and share Jerusalem; the Palestinians must give up the dream of return and make Israel feel secure as a Jewish state.

I always wondered what would have happened if Isreal had still been created, but somewhere in Europe.

Do you think the problems w/ displaced refugees etc. would have still occurred to the same extent?

30-Gay,

I have always loved that magazine - thanks for sharing this. I thought the article was poignant and realistic and spells out what the compromises HAVE to be on both sides if peace is to be achieved, certainly in our lifetime!

Thank you.

6th Gen sorry to get off tract but I have a question I believe you can answer and would appreciate a quick lesson when you get the time.

Question: When America went away from using gold and silver to back up our currency what did we use as collateral in its place?

I have been told that the dollar will suffer drastically over the next year and would be interested in your thoughts on this.

Fabian,
Nothing except the US' good name, and that's hard to put in a vault.

I think the dollar has come close to bottoming out, but I'd like to read other opinions. I've seen a chart, but I can't find it, that completely wipes out the last shred of credibility of Keyensian economics. I'll try to find it. Thanks.
